Summary

After a three-year career as an award-winning newspaper reporter, I joined Capital Region BOCES as a public information specialist in August 2006. In this role, I worked collaboratively with team members to develop and execute multi-platform communications strategies that raised awareness and increased community involvement surrounding key issues in public education.

I am currently the social media/promotions specialist for MVP Health Care, a nonprofit health insurer which serves more than 613,000 members in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. I develop and execute social media content strategy and manage the social media presence for MVP's corporate brand. I also monitor and participate in online conversations, develop corporate social media policy and procedures, serve as the editorial leadership for all social media content for the company's corporate social channels, and serve as a collaborative resource for departments on all matters related to social media and the role social plays in forwarding the company's mission and vision. 

Objective

Use my writing, editing and PR skills to creatively and proactively manage an online community and/or brand presence across various social media channels. I will be happiest in an organization that values my input, believes in my abilities and offers a healthy balance of team collaboration and autonomy. My dream position would allow me to develop and advise social media strategies, cultivate and monitor online communities, write creatively and conversationally, and analyze information gathered from social media campaigns in order to continue moving social media efforts forward.

Editing

I'm routinely asked by my colleagues to edit news and feature pieces. As a reporter for the Post Star, I often volunteered to serve as night editor, writing headlines, proofing copy and posting information to the newspaper's website.

Conversational Writing

As a reporter, I understood the power of a good narrative, and often chose to lead stories with people, not facts or figures. My conversational writing style enables me to write engaging content for multiple platforms, such as  social media channels, websites and newsletters.  When I include my roles as editor-in-chief of both my high school and college student newspapers, my writing experience spans more than a decade.
