Christian Toth New York
- New York,NY US
Christian Toth works in New York City as a voice artist for Broken Chord / Daniel Baker Sound Design. He concurrently serves as account supervisor for Verso Advertising, Inc., an agency whose publishing clients include Vintage/Anchor, Norton, and William Morrow. When he is not involved in these pursuits, Christian Toth enjoys listening to music, particularly the singer-songwriter Otis Redding, who became known as the voice of soul music in his brief career. Redding's Georgia childhood was marked by the music of Sam Cooke and Little Richard. In the late 50s, while still a teen, he joined the Upsetters, previously the backup band for Little Richard. Redding moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and began releasing singles. Redding performed with Johnny Jenkins's band, the Pinetoppers, and recorded his self-written ballad, These Arms of Mine (1963). The song charted at number 20 on the rhythm and blues survey. This led to his signing with Stax Records, where he played guitar and arranged his own tunes. An energetic presence in the studio, Redding made the album Otis Blue in one day.
