I specialise in helping people overcome significant challenges that have held them back from finding employment by complementing the delivery of high quality career interventions to remove barriers and improve employability with opportunities sourced from building relationships with employers. 

Being passionate about helping those in disadvantaged situations, I have taken on job roles that have enabled me to push myself to become proficient at all the skills necessary to achieve this. Furthermore, throughout my career I have consistently excelled at meeting job outcome targets regardless of difficulties faced by my client-base, and am experienced at going into new locations to network with both employers and stakeholders as part of building up an effective, high-performing service.

2013 - Present

Senior Careers & Progression Advisor

Basingstoke College of Technology, Basingstoke, Hants.
  • Developing careers department to achieve college aims of improved student retention, progression and destination outcomes through coordinating cross-college initiatives along with using data to identify and engage with students who could benefit from the service.
  • Revising employer strategy to improve engagement through increasing employers events and successfully introducing a student recruitment service that has facilitated job outcomes for students.
  • Increasing provision for students with additional needs, including targeted career coaching and building links with other providers. 
  • Developing employability skills curriculum and resources, leading to improved student feedback against previous year as well as teaching lessons as requested.

Additional experience gained through networking with local providers:

  • Volunteering as Transitions Coordinator for local branch of the National Autistic Society, working with local schools and colleges to improve careers support for autistic teenagers.
  • Teaching employability skills at Mencap job club for young adults with learning difficulties.

Senior Employability Advisor & Trainer

F1 Training, Bury St Edmunds area, Suffolk & Norfolk
  • Managing a caseload of ex-offenders looking for employment, delivering career interventions to remove various barriers while creatively networking in person and over social media to build relationships with employers and other support organisations throughout the region.
  • Consistently achieving key targets to enable company to catch up on and meet contractual obligations, achieving second highest employment and placement outcomes for 2012 across the East of England despite not seeing any clients until April that year.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Assisting colleagues on other contracts through both networking with agencies to source referrals and taking on extra careers advice sessions and workshops as a National Careers Service advisor.
2011 - 2012

Employment Consultant (Acting Senior)

  • Working on a new government contract, supporting a large caseload of unemployed people and taking the lead at branch-level in coordinating an employer engagement strategy and building relationships with training providers and support agencies.
  • Achieving the most job outcomes in the branch – including winning an award for most outcomes in the region.

Additional Experience
