As Lead Data Scientist, my role is to lead advanced analytical efforts in project based work, delivering quality results in the fields of Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive analysis. This work includes:

Senior Database Administrator

Drive and lead database architecture and design projects, goals, and objectives Provide guidance to junior and mid-level database administrators as required to meet timeline and business initiatives. Serve as the principle contact for, and coordinates extensively with other areas of the county to drive architecture plans, upgrades, best practices to achieve database goals and objectives for the county and its operations throughout the organization Design, implement, and manage data stewardship(rights, access, retention, security, encryption, etc) of data, databases, and database servers. Perform performance analysis and optimization on a proactive basis to assure the county achieves targeted service levels, cost reductions, and maximum availability and resiliency. Install, configure, and interpret the output of database management tools and queries and translates into recommended courses of action; then implement same to resolve or prevent database issues. Design, implement, execute, and troubleshoot database back-up and restore processes in one environment, or among several environments(includes development, QA, staging, and production) Support over 160 line of business apps from various business units.

  • Develop and implement data migration for new business tax system merging data from four disparate systems with two decades of data
  • Created and implemented data interface between active mainframe data and web application to provide real time permit & inspection data for builders and contractors
  • Develop interface between maternal health and public health systems for required for Medicaid reimbursement
  • Develop interface between county restaurant inspection data and Yelp resulting in greater visibility and utilization of data

I act to remove roadblocks and recruit and motivate volunteers.

Factors Contributing to Cesarean Section Deliveries in Low Risk Pregnancies in North Carolina

Using the 2014 data from North Carolina, it was found that variations across hospitals in the likelihood of cesarean delivery of lower risk women could not be fully explained by differences in patient population with regard to mothers’ demographics, socioeconomic, pregnancy-related factors or preexisting medical conditions.
