In 2008 a 3 story row home at 2944 West Cambridge incurred a massive fire that lead to a complete renovation. The owner of this house, Charles Melon, own various properties in and around the Philadelphia region. Charles hired me as an on-site carpenter to which I soon became the lead carpenter there after. At times I was the only one working on the job, while other times I lead a crew of up to 5 people, as well as managing and scheduling the Electric, HVAC, and Plumbing sub-contractors.
The entire back wall of the house needed complete renovation, including brick repair, framing, sheething, siding, and some roofing. All new windows and doors.
The inside of the house required all removal and reconstruction of interior walls designed by an architect.
There were many modifications made to the design during the build process, which included two staircases. I built these staircases into each other with a built in cabinet with large linen drawers designed and built by me. The lower of the two staircases was originally built by another sub-contractor, to which I modified a bit as the job continued per the instruction of Charles Mellon.
The new product has new floors, ceiling and floor joists, all new plumbing, and central air, three new bathrooms, a new Kitchen, 2 new stair cases, most new windows and doors, and an alarm system. We also exposed the brick on the entire east side and sealed it with a clear sealer.
There are SOME pictures of this project before paint in the video slide to the right. However, pics of the finishing product will be up soon.
Please call Charles Mellon (contact info found to the right) for a reference to this project. He would be delighted to talk to you.
