Music was a central theme during my young adult life, and I was fortunate to have the responsibility of Front of House duties for several of the most well known theatres in Western Massachusetts. The Calvin Theatre is a well known performing arts center in Northampton, MA with 1300+ capacity, where I was the resident Front of House engineer from 1997-1999. At this same time I was also employed as the FOH for Pearl Street Nightclub and the Iron Horse Music Hall where I held FOH and monitor positions. During this time I was able to facilitate performances in almost all genres of music from jazz to rap to classical.
With a move to NYC, I began assisting and engineering at Sony Music Studios in NYC under Elliot Scheiner, Tony Maserati, Andy Wallace and Al Schmidt, among many others. After gaining experience at Sony, I went to work for P. Diddy and Bad Boy Records at Daddy's House Studios for a short time. I worked on various hit records during my time there, albeit brief. I then transitioned to a position as Wyclef Jean's primary engineer for two years at his Platinum Sound Recording Studios. It was during this time that I had the pleasure of meeting Nelly and several related artists that were looking for a freelance audio engineer and it was then that I went full time "freelance/hired gun". I've been a part of well over 10 Platinum records, with as many as 30+ Gold, and have one Grammy win (for a song), as well as several nominations.
During this time I also had the opportunity to tour with the Pixies on their Reunion Tour, provide FOH services to one of NYC's best live rock and roll clubs, Snitch, all while maintaining a hectic studio and sound design schedule. A recent sound design project, "The Art Fusion Experiment" won special achievement for a documentary at the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2007.
In fall of 2007 I relocated to Nashville, TN, and have since worked on several studio projects as well as having had the opportunity to mix for Kellie Pickler on her Summer Tour of 2008, Dove Award winners Reliant K, and recent chart topping country artist Jason Aldean during their summer 2009 tours.
Most recently I have achieved success in sound design working on television advertisements for Ray Ban, Reebok, and Tommy Hilfiger only to name a few.
I am an expert with Pro Tools, Logic, Melodyne, Reason, Battery, etc. I have a small studio set up at this time in Nashville, TN as well as having an HD5 rig in NYC with outboard by Empirical Labs, Manley, SSL and Avalon. I am extremely comfortable on all large format SSL's, Neve's and API's, as well as on any other equipment typically connected to microphones catching music...I am experienced with major productions using any one of the following: Digidesign VENUE, Digico, Yamaha PM5D,PM1D, M7CL, Midas, etc., just to name a few. I have mixed acts with as many as 18 monitor mixes (wedges, IEM's, and both...), and feel very comfortable handling monitors.
I spent a year and a half as the in house engineer for Soundcheck Nashville, which is the largest rehearsal facility of its kind in the nation. Almost every touring act comes through Soundcheck, and I have had the fortunate opportunity to work with most of them. This includes: The Raconteurs, Robert Plant, Kenny Chesney, Montgomery Gentry, etc.
At the present time I wear different hats in various positions as an audio engineer using my skills mixing for larger productions in the Nashville, TN area, sound designing and composing for various film and advertising projects while also recording and mixing for artists in the recording industry in the form of studio sessions. Over thirteen years and counting of experience as an audio engineer and looking to continue for many more...
