Summary

I see myself as a self motivated individual who enjoys organizing, meeting needs, and working with people to accomplish their goals.

My career goal is to work with students, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. It is my hope to be able to cultivate a knowledge and appreciation for the English language and culture in such students, while fostering an equal appreciation for their various cultures.

Teaching Linguistics 101 to speakers of other languages. The class is composition and rhetoric based and is designed to be the nonnative speaker equivalent to English Comp 101. My students receive instruction that is focused on their second language learning needs, cultural knowledge, and personal/professional development. 

My duties include:
- Generating daily lesson material and curriculum 
- Designing composition assignments
- Giving original lectures 
- Facilitating group and individual classwork

I received my B.A. degree in English from Hannibal La-Grange University in three years. In those three years I had the opportunity to hold three jobs simultaneously for the university as well as serving as vice-president of the Honors Society. I also spent a semester studying abroad in England where I strove to broaden my knowledge of culture and travel as well as my knowledge of the English language.

During my time working for the Education Department of Hannibal La-Grange University, as well as serving as the vice-president of the Honors Society, I had the opportunity to improve my skills as an event coordinator.

As a student ambassador at HLGU, as well as my position as the instructor of record for Ling 101 at SIUC, I have used public speaking skills extensively.
