Initiating Healthy Start Initiative to Eliminate disparities in perinatal health program with support and compliance of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and new universal maternity care program for women. Development of, and access to, a comprehensive set of maternity benefits has been an objective of ACOG nationally since 1971 and a particular focus for ACOG in Nevada State since 1985. In 1993, the ACOG national office developed a plan for universal maternity care. Pregnant women and infants are among the most vulnerable populations in the state and country, and providing them with universal coverage is a primary step in all health care reform. Program focus works to reduce "the disparity" in the health status between the individual and general population.
Manage acute and chronic medical conditions through comprehensive history taking, physical exam, and the ordering of diagnostic tests and treatments. Diagnose medical problems, order treatments, prescribe medications, and make referrals for a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Provide care that focuses on the patient's medical issues as well as the effects of illness on the life of the patient and his or her family. In absence of the Physician, assumes the responsibility for clinic operations under the scope of the States Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure. In order to address the needs of high-risk women and their families before, during, and after pregnancy.
