Job description: Marketing and selling advertisements for Namib Independent, local coastal Namibian newspaper. I was hired as a junior sales executive to be trained on the job after which I assumed the role as advertising sales executive.
My main responsibilities included: Approaching businesses, building relationships, gaining data and persuading clients to use our newspaper as an advertising medium.
My daily duties consisted of: Several door-to-door meetings, walk-in sales and promoting our newspaper. I also did data collections and input, filing, customer care, answering and directing phone calls to relevant sectors, quotations and briefing our design team on clients' specific needs.
Achievements: During June I broke the company's weekly sales record and I was then promoted to marketing and customer relations officer.
