Technical Project Engineer

Agco Corporation

Margin Improvement
  • Lead engineer driving and scheduling large projects from start to finish with focus on removing waste/reducing cost from material, process, and logistics for the various product lines.
  • Organized and lead tear down workshops for various combine and baler events that generated hundreds of cost savings ideas.
  • Negotiated with cross-functional groups within the organization to get approval on projects and identified validation testing requirements needed to approve projects.
  • Identified cost savings projects through tear down workshops, BOM analysis, CAD model studies, and facility walks

Product Reliability

  • Focus on investigating field failures to understand root cause of failures.
  • Use ProEngineer to generate 3D layouts and 2D GD&T drawings of Combine and Hay Baler components to resolve reliability issues found in the field.
  • Work with vendors to resolve design/quality issues related to their product.
  • Submit and manage shop work orders to produce prototype components to validate the new design concept.
  • Submit, manage, and aid in lab test work orders to validate both function and durability of new design concept.
Jan 2007 - Sep 2011

Senior Project Engineer

Terex Roadbuilding

  • Lead engineer for the design, build, validation, scheduling and service of a line of road milling machines ranging from 165-950 HP, road grinders ranging from 350-950 HP, and landfill compactors from 390-520 HP.
  • Use ProEngineer to generate 3D layouts and 2D GD&T drawings for all mobile products. Administer the ProEngineer database for the group of engineers creating data.
  • Create, validate, and manage hydraulic system specifications including pump/motor sizing, schematics, power consumption, and hose routing.
  • Create, validate, and manage engine drive systems including cooler, muffler, air filter, clutch, and hydraulic pump drive design. Includes new power units that meet current Tier requirements.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting problems for both production line and field service issues
  • Support sales/marketing with customer questions and am often called to speak with customers about specifics related to their job requirements or machine capabilities
  • Manage team consisting of engineer, designer, technical publications, and document control including annual reviews, scheduling, and day to day administration
  • Responsible for proofing operations/maintenance and parts books for accuracy and content
  • Work with electrical engineers on machine control strategies and user interface
  • Work directly with manufacturing engineering and fabricators/welders to find “best practices” while building mobile equipment
Jul 2004 - Jan 2007

Senior Designer

BorgWarner Morse Tec

  • Implemented PDM system using Teamcenter Engineering software including testing the software to work out bugs/issues. Developed training documentation/cheat sheets and facilitated classes in order to effectively train plant personnel to use new PDM system. Created site specific work flows in order to achieve electronic sign-off for controlled documents
  • Used Ideas, Unigraphics, ProEngineer, and Catia CAD software to generate 3D layouts and 2D GD&T drawings of both oil pumps and camshaft timing phasers for automotive applications
  • Performed mechanical layout and tolerance analysis of various pump/phaser components
  • Information Technology liaison to the product engineering group
Jul 2001 - Jul 2004

Senior Designer/Application Engineer

BorgWarner Turbo Systems

  • Coordinated engine testing, gathered data, and evaluated data from turbos run on engines in dyno test cells to determine what performance changes were needed. Evaluated returned turbo units for failure analysis
  • Coordinated quotes and purchase of prototype parts. Worked directly with suppliers to reduce cost and complexity of designs through manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Involved with documenting and gathering data for FMEA and APQP processes
  • Used Ideas and ProEngineer CAD software to generate 3D models and 2D GD&T drawings of turbocharger components
  • Performed mechanical layout and tolerance analysis of various turbo components
  • Lead design staff on design direction and priorities
  • Information Technology liaison to the product development group
Jul 2000 - Jul 2001

Mechanical Designer

Seagate Technology

  • Used Ideas CAD software to generate 3D models and 2D GD&T drawings of computer hard drive components
  • Performed mechanical layout and tolerance analysis of various disc drive components
  • Participated in initial prototyping of parts for clearance and functionality by using Rapid Prototype and CNC machined parts
May 1997 - Jul 2000

Design Engineer

CMI Corporation

  • Used Ideas and Anvil CAD software to generate 3D models and 2D GD&T drawings of various road construction machine components. Concentrated in areas of mechanism design such as cutter, mainframe, and legs but was responsible for assembling 3D components into a top level assembly.
  • Involved in creating and troubleshooting hydraulic schematics and fluid power systems (pumps, motors, various valves).
  • Traveled to customer's site to trouble-shoot various issues with the different machines
  • Created cost estimate for a prospected machine
