Moes Southwest Grill

As a team member at Moe's Southwest Grill, I am responsible for many tasks involved in the restaurant business. Some include, cash register proficiency, cleaning, cooking, and handling matters with the public. Through my work experience at Moe's I have learned  to be polite and respectful towards everyone I serve, even if they do not treat you with the same respect.

Lifeguard Supervisor

Decatur Parks and Recreation

While holding my Lifeguard Supervisor title I was in charge of all other lifeguards who were on duty. I had to make sure that they were all completing their job duties in a correct and respectable manner especially while dealing with the public and the intake of money. I was also in charge of handling  all of the public's comments and complaints. I was held responsible to make sure all patrons were having a safe and enjoyable time while at the swimming facility. Proficiency with checking and monitoring the pool temps, chemicals, and water height was also an important role of my job.

Bachelor of Science

University of Alabama

I am currently a sophomore at the University of Alabama pursuing a degree in Food and nutrition. I am involved in many on and off campus groups and organizations including the March of Dimes fundraising group, The Student Dietetic Association, The Great Strides fundraising organization, and  The Intramural Swimming team. I am also currently a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the University of Alabama Honors College. I hold a 3.7 GPA and I hope to accomplish an even higher GPA at the end of my Sophomore year. I am always looking for new leadership opportunities and chances to make an impact on the student life at the University of Alabama.

Throughout my high-school and college years I have been involved in many organizations and activities that have helped me develop  leadership skills. I was awarded the Points of Light Youth leadership certification for helping organize a Meals on Wheels program . I helped in the process of making the food, and also delivering it to the needy and homeless people in my community. Through this and other leadership opportunities that I have been given throughout my life, I have developed skills that will aid me for the rest of my life. I am able to take control of a situation and come up with a solution in a small amount of time.  Being able to work under pressure and encourage people to become motivated and work together are only a few of the things I have learned from my leadership opportunities that I have been given. I hope this and other skills will help me accomplish my career goals in the future.
Strong Work Ethic
I began working when I was fifteen years old and I have held a steady part time job ever since. I have held a job for five years already and I am only nineteen years old which I think says something about my work ethic. Commitment is a huge factor in my life and I believe that you must give your all at every job you have and always be aiming for more than you are required to do. Currently I work at Moe's Southwest Grill and as an employee for the company and business I must present myself in a way that represents them in way that they would be proud to say that I am one of their employees. In every job I have I aim to be the best. The words punctuality, perfection, and teamwork are what I live by when I am at work.

Two year goals: In two years I aim to be graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor Degree in Food and Nutrition. I would like to graduate with an above average GPA and a job or internship already lined up for me that involves my major.

Four Years: In four years I hope to be working the job of my dreams which is to be a Registered Dietician and work in a clinical setting . I would like to also specialize with teenagers who have eating disorders.

My name is Cinthia DeVoe and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Alabama pursuing a bachelor degree in Food and Nutrition. I am and always will be considered a hard worker. I set high goals for myself because I believe that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to and that nothing is considering impossible. I have grown up in a household where money was scarce and if you wanted anything, you had to work for it yourself.Throughout my life I have learned to never take anything for granted and that you have been put on this world for a reason. My life was given to me to make an impact on this world, and through my degree in nutrition I hope to be able to accomplish that by helping people the rest of  my life by promoting healthy eating habits.

Health, fitness, and eating disorders have been a huge interest for me throughout my life. At a young age I became interested in what exactly happens to the food you eat and what it does to your body. Nutrition is one of the most mind-blowing factors of the human body and I will always be ready and willing to learn more about it. As a competitive swimmer of sixteen years, exercise and fitness has always been a  part of my life also. What exercise does to your body and the long-term impact it makes on your life has also been an interest of mine for many years. My interest for eating disorders happened when my older sister was diagnosed with Anorexia and Bulimia. She has struggled with it for many years and I have been by her side the entire time trying to help her overcome this mental illness and love her body for the way it is.  Essentially, anything relating to the human body and food has always enthralled me which is why I have chosen a Food and Nutrition major. I hope to be able to combine my love of food, fitness, and nutrition into a job that  will excite me and keep me motivated to help others for the rest of my life.
