When not working, I indulge in my hobbies which include:

  • Travelling
  • Cricket
  • Reading
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Social Media
  • Surfing the net
  • Creating websites
  • Shopping
  • Socialising with my friends.

As a teacher, I am enthusiastic and truly passionate about working with children of all ages. I work hard and always give my very best. I have enthusiasm, show initiative, and have a willingness to keep learning to keep up with current best practices. I am respectful and professional, and also have a good sense of humour and optimism that has a positive influence in a team environment.

In addition to a Bachelor of Education (Primary) - where I received numerous awards in recognition of my theoretical and practical skills - I have also gained Bachelor degrees in Commerce and Computer Science that have enhanced my teaching practices mainly through the use of up to date ICT skills. I have developed classroom websites that have become effective online learning environments that complement classroom practices. I have gained two NEiTA nominations and a Graduate Excellence in Teaching Award.

I am also very strong and experienced in planning, delivering, assessing and evaluating effective programs in accordance with the WA Curriculum Framework. My referees will attest to this. My strengths lie in planning thematic programs where ICT and integration across learning areas is a main focus, and found that students are more likely to actively engage in theme work than in stand alone topics and thus perform better academically.

As you will see from my Curriculum Vitae, I have developed a wide range of technical and practical skills including:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Well developed IT skills
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to teaching
  • Working collaboratively with other staff
  • Willing to be involved in all school events including extracurricular activities
  • Consistently improving my own learning and skills through PD

I have also gained all necessary qualifications to teach in Catholic institutions.

Talented and Gifted Students (TAGS) Coordinator

Kensington Primary School
  • Planning and delivering customised programs for gifted students
  • Assessment, evaluation and reporting
  • Collaboration with classroom teachers
  • Design, development and maintenance of classroom website

I liaise with classroom teachers on weekly basis to discuss the progress of their TAG students, as well as plan future teaching and learning experiences for them that will be beneficial and complement and enhance their classroom learning. Teachers have praised my ability to liaise with them and provide an enriched and extended curriculum for the students.

In my role as TAGS coordinator, the teaching and learning experiences are planned in advance and have links to the outcomes and standards as mandated in the Western Australian Curriculum Documents (including the Curriculum Framework, Progress Maps, Curriculum Guides, Scope and Sequence Syllabus). These plans are often proofed and approved by classroom teachers before they are implemented the following week. This allows me to plan not just the content knowledge, but also the teaching strategies and environment that will be most conducive for the lesson’s objectives. Classes therefore run smoothly and students’ time is used effectively thus maximising their learning.
