Cassandra La Fonte
- Farmville VA
I am a 21 year old, senior Undergraduate student at Longwood University located in Farmville, Virginia. To prepare for my future, I am currently a Psychology major with a minor concentration in Drawing and Painting in the School of Arts & Sciences. Leadership and involvement on Longwood's campus and in the Farmville community is a major priority. I currently serve as the College Panhellenic President (January 2015-January 2015), who governs and oversees 9 nationally recognized sororities (in addition, one local sorority). I was chosen to be apart of the Student Advisory Committee, appointed by the Longwood University President. In my own chapter, Delta Zeta - Epsilon Tau, I have served on the Executive Board two terms (Fall 2013- Spring 2014; Spring 2014- Fall 2014; Spring 2015- Fall 2015). My current active role on the board is fulfilling the duties of the Vice President of Programming (served as the Panhellenic Delegate). It was a great honor to receive the Edward Cunningham Panhellenic Award in January 2015 for the most Panhellenic leader on campus, and I was mentioned in the "Lamp" (Delta Zeta's National Magazine).
With graduate school in mind, over the Summer of 2015, I was an intern for the Integrative Counseling Services located in Winchester, Virginia. To gain experience in the field of therapy, I have documented journals of my experience during the group therapy, play therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and yoga therapy sessions. During group sessions, I organized activities to open and close discussions - many tasks were artistically influenced by art therapy books I have read.
I have worked since I was 14 years old, and would consider myself very hard-working, dedicated, driven and artistic entrepreneur. At age 15, I was appointed Shift leader at a local restaurant in my town, with a side job of being a nanny. In hopes of aligning my college education and my work, I joined the Art Station team, an Art Studio in Northern Virginia, in June of 2014 where I currently work. I have worked my way up from a hostess to a guide (see work history). In addition to my work ethic, I created my own website showcasing my artistic ability in hopes of gaining commissions. I have commissioned over 30 pieces of artwork over the past year and a half.
