Blackville High School Sept 2004 - presentHigh School Teacher (Various Subjects)

Taught English 9 and 10, Ancient History 10, Writing 110, Tourism 110, Media Studies 120, Journalism 120, Theatre Arts 120. Planned, prepared and presented daily lessons and created unit plans. Worked in extra-curricular activities as a drama adviser and director, yearbook advisor, public speaking and a liaison with the local newspaper. Also supervised at school dances. With another teacher, won a SMART Board through a School District 16 contest. Was instrumental in the school library obtaining over $2000.00 worth of new resources for English and History. Became a SMART Board Exemplary teacher and attended a SMART Board conference in Boston. Helped and supported numerous teachers at the school in computer and SMART Board use. Through the journalism class, started and instructed students to maintain the online student newspaper. Secretary for the school's Workplace and Safety Committee. A member and acting chair for the District Conducts and Standards Committee. Was instrumental in the school becoming a Future Generation Tech Lab that included $15, 0000 grant. 

Miramichi Valley High School Sept 2002 - June 2004English teacher

Taught grade 10 (all levels) and 11 (academic) English. Planned, prepared and presented daily lessons and created unit plans. Prepared grade 10 students for their literacy assessment. Prepared grade 11 students for their English Provincial Examination. Aside from regular duties, worked in extra-curricular activities by supervising the weight room and helping with the debate team. Was also a member of the technology committee and supervised at school dances and several other events.

Worked as an advertising sales representative for the regular newspapers as well as special projects such as educational and business supplements, maps, and other publications. Was instrumental in developing a publication for the local community college readership. Also worked in planning layout and design, writing articles and taking photos, Worked with various applications, including word processing and layout/design software.

Worked in troubleshooting customer problems and dispatching service technicians for on site service when necessary (provision of service to clients). Purchased computers, supplies and other materials. Sold products to walk in traffic and businesses and schools. Helped customers become familiar with computers, showing them basic uses for software applications, such as word processing, using spreadsheets, and Internet use. Sourced specialized software for clients, such as point of sale. Implemented a computerized tracking method for service calls and return product merchandise.
