Summary

Resourceful enough to get to The Academy Awards, brave enough to SCUBA dive with sharks, and often described as a “pit bull with charm,” I lead teams to exceed recruitment objectives.

Since I started recruiting extras for a film over 20 years ago, I have been a zealot for building relationships. I’ve launched a campus as a start-up. Most recently, I helped rebuild an institution that was not only in danger of closing due to low enrollment, but also had challenges relating to reputation. I’m in search of my next challenge with an organization that is looking to grow.

Director of Admissions, Pacific Oaks College and Colleges of Law

TCS Education System

I was promoted to leading online recruitment for both Pacific Oaks College and Colleges of Law, and navigated the complex partnership as an employee of TCS Education System working as a consultant to serve multiple affiliates. Due to the success of the online campus, Pacific Oaks wanted to hire me and my team, and wanted us on their campus in California. I wanted to remain in the Midwest, so I assisted the organization with the transition.  I was then contacted by a recruiter for a position at Jenzabar.

Director of Admissions, Pacific Oaks College

TCS Education System

TCS Education System is a private, non-profit organization that was formed in 2009 to provide shared services and expertise for colleges and schools. I joined TCS Education System to lead the formation and launch of the Online Office of Admissions as a start-up campus for Pacific Oaks College, a nonprofit institution in Pasadena, CA. Pacific Oaks College had significant challenges with turnover, financial stability, and reputation, and had been in danger of closing due to low enrollment. I built the online campus from scratch. Among my proudest accomplishments includes coming into a newly formed organization as a new manager, developing a new employee onboarding and training program that was adopted across all the system, developing a career ladder, and successfully training and leading the recruitment team to enroll over 750 students from 2011-Spring 2015.

  • Grew campus to make up approximately 36% of total student body and 28% of total revenue for FY 2014, and increased Fall 2014 enrollment over 10% over Fall 2013. With the addition and success of the online campus, Pacific Oaks got back into the black.
  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive strategic recruitment plan designed to identify, attract, admit, and enroll a diverse student body; hired, trained, and led of a team of 5 recruiters; and developed and implemented annual recruitment marketing plans in coordination with the central marketing team.
  • Actively participated in CRM implementations, configuration, and support plans while focusing on end-user needs and requirements. I served on company-wide task forces, committees, and meetings, functioning as a liaison, resource, and CRM subject-matter expert for enrollment.
  • Organized and led a series of Virtual Open Houses and Info Sessions showcasing Pacific Oaks faculty on topical issues relevant to prospective students.
  • Actively participated in development and execution of website copy and content, LMS demos, and new student orientation.
  • Reviewed files for candidacy for each of the 8 degree programs (including eligibility for Competency Based Education track called Credit for Learning from Life Experience) and the 2 credentialing programs and selected and awarded scholarships to qualified candidates.   Executed transcript evaluations for incoming BA students.
  • Leveraged strong relationships with colleagues and an evidenced-based approach to push through changes to admissions standards and policies that better align with the needs of the majority of the first generation, low-income, and adult student populations (ex. partnership with Straighterline, lowering number of transfer credits required for admission to BA programs, scholarships, special pricing, etc).
  • Recognized institution-wide as a leader and, as such, served on several critical institution committee assignments which made great strides in structuring policies and services to enhance the student experience and positively impact enrollment and retention (created Military Discount proposal that was approved in Spring 2015).
  • Served on system wide committee assignments (Ethics Committee, Policy Review Committee, Employee Survey Action Team)
