Throughout my teaching career, I have participated in dozens of workshops, curriculum development inservices, and staff development conferences which all influence what I bring to the classroom.  The following is a short list highlighting various training, workshops, and committees which I have participated in within the past 3 years:

  • Dr. Don Maas Workshop- Collaborative Learning Workshop
  • Harvesting Teacher Brilliance- 2 day workshop; presenter; four schools participated in an annual workshop and conference where teachers and administrators collaborate and share ideas within their respective disciplines.
  • Grammar Workshop- presenter; 2 hour workshop where I presented to the English department at South High School ideas on how to make grammar consumable, interactive, and fun for students.
  • Kern High School District Benchmark Committee- member; along with a panel of KHSD English teachers, I helped create Benchmark tests for each quarter which are aligned with the blueprints for the California Standards Test.
  • Kern High School District Writing Committee- As a member of the KHSD writing committee, I worked collaboratively with other KHSD English teachers to develop a writing pretest for freshmen and sophomore students.  The idea behind this test is to gauge areas of weakness that can be fine-tuned before the CA High School Exit Exam is administered in March of the current school year.
