During a career spanning almost 23 years, Carl supported the NEF sales force and executive management in a number of roles:

  • Manager of a team of communication professionals delivering high-impact internal and external communication
  • Project manager of teams developing innovative web, training, database marketing, and MIS solutions
  • Executive speech writer
  • Meeting facilitator and business planner

In 2004, Carl's contribution to the NEF sales force was recognized by the distribution system's Managing Partners with the inaugural Field Partner of the Year award.


ZHC Partners

ZHC Partners conducts meeting management workshops, strategy planning sessions, market analysis, and branding initiatives for clients that include Prudential Financial, American National, and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs. ZHC Partners is bi-coastal, with co-founder Dick Harris based in California and Carl based in Boston.

Graduate Lecturer

Carl has designed and taught a number of courses in the MS in Corporate and Organizational Communication Program in the College of Professional Studies since the program's inception in the fall of 2005. His courses include Foundations of Organizational Communication, Assessing Communication Effectiveness, Meeting Management, and Organizational Culture and Communication.

The focus of his teaching is understanding the role of communication in organizational life and engaging students in a case study approach that is challenging and practical.

He was recognized with the 2007 Excellence in Teaching Award by the College of Professional Studies.

Carl is an active member of the Yankee Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. For three of the past four years, he has served on the chapter board as the Vice President for Professional Development. His goal is to help enrich the professional development of business communicators in the Boston area, with an annual Career Development Forum as a focal point.

He is also the proud 'owner' of a three-century-old farmhouse in the Austrian Tirol and publishes a website dedicated to the European Alps,
