As Vice President of Life Safety & Risk Management at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Carlos Noriega brings a rich history in law enforcement to his work, along with an outstanding record of leadership in and around the greater Miami Beach region. Essential to the development, execution, and ongoing management of all security plans at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Carlos Noriega has ensured a safe and comfortable experience for guests of the extensive, 1504-room resort since January 2012. Prior to his work with Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Carlos Noriega spent 28 years with the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD), during which time he ascended from Patrol Officer to Chief of Police. Widely recognized as change agent through his work as both an officer and an administrator, Mr. Noriega accumulated numerous individual and organizational honors over the course of his tenure with the MBPD, including being named Officer of the Year by both the MBPD and the South Florida Optimist Clubs. He also led the Department's efforts for reaccreditations by CALEA and CFA (attaining "Flagship" status), MADD Multi-Agency DUI Task Force Awards of Excellence, and commissions from regional, state, and national organizations. A graduate of Florida International University, St. Thomas University, and Miami Dade College, Carlos Noriega earned his M.S. in Criminal Justice, B.A. in Criminal Justice, and A.A. in Business Administration from these respective schools. In addition, Mr. Noriega completed additional training at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Aside from his current work at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Carlos Noriega plays an active role in the community, donating his time, energy, and resources to a wide range of philanthropic and civic organizations. To this end, Mr. Noriega maintains affiliation with the Kiwanis Club of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, sponsors children through Compassion International, and has volunteered as a youth athletic coach for seventeen years. He is also an ASPCA donor to help save animals.
