As co-owner and Vice President of Charlie Johnson Builder, Inc., Carl Ludecke carries on the founder’s legacy of building quality luxury homes throughout Central Florida. Based in Mt. Dora, the company has constructed 4,000 homes, earning Aurora and MAME Awards, winning the Parade of Homes in metro Orlando and Lake County, and garnering recognition as Lake County’s Favorite and Best Builder. Charlie Johnson Builder homes have appeared in The New York Times, Builder magazine, and the International Herald Tribune and on such other media outlets as HGTV, CBS This Morning, and Good Morning America on ABC-TV. Carl Ludecke has immersed himself in the industry since joining the firm in 1975, displaying the same dedication to excellence he has exhibited throughout his life.For three terms, he served as President of the Homebuilders Association of Lake County. Carl Ludecke also sat on the Boards of Directors of the Florida Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders for two decades. For the Florida Home Builders Association, the construction executive chaired the Affordable Housing and Board Presidents Committees and sat on the Political Action, Legal Action, and Nominating Committees. His additional industry committee service includes three years on the National Association of Home Builders Affordable Housing Committee.A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and graduate of Notre Dame University, where he captained the track team and set a shot put record while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Carl Ludecke has made a tremendous difference in Umatilla. He started the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program at Umatilla High School and personally recruited a physician, a dentist, and a veterinarian to the town. He also started a Jaycees chapter and formed the city’s Volunteer Fire Department, serving as President of both organizations. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Council, Carl Ludecke has gained recognition as Florida Builder of the Year from the Florida Home Builders Association and a reputation as a consummate professional and community leader.
