Accountable for the planning, directing, and coordination of the operations of New Hartford Sheet Metal. Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources.


Develop strategies and processes to standardize, integrate and implement common business solutions in support of company initiatives

Maximize company resources to lower costs by reducing cycle time, improve performance and improve responsiveness to customer needs

Develop processes that allow the operation to improve productivity and balance according to future demand

Develop key performance metrics and service level agreements to monitor the department’s overall performance

Change agent to drive cultural changes within the organization

Train & encourage team to improve in all areas of the business

Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key performance metrics and the achievement of organizational goals

Review analyses of activities, costs, operations

Foster positive relationships with vendors and customers

Manage manufacturing operations, while driving continuous improvement

Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of various areas in conjunction with Company goals

Ensure and constantly evaluate that systems are in place to reduce product variation meet customer needs

Direct, administer and control the day to day operations and activities in order to provide high quality products and customer service

Oversee activities directly related to making products and providing services

Directed and coordinate activities of business and departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, and distribution of products

Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement

Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties

Direct and coordinate organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency

Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with President and Vice President and staff members as necessary

Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees

Provide leadership and coordination of New Hartford Sheet Metal financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.


Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions

Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments

Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against prior years'

Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies

Oversee daily operations of the finance department

Manage the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses

Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures

Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives

Serve on planning and policy-making committees

Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements

Determine banking and insurance needs

Oversee physical inventories

I am a business professional with a BS in Accounting from LeMoyne College, in Syracuse NY and an MS in Education from Elmira College, in Elmira NY.I have extensive experience in corporate manufacturing, service, accounting and engineering fields as Director of Operations and Controller.Furthermore, I have over 15 years leadership and human resource experience in these same fields.

I possess certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Training of Trainers and Human Resource Development.I have conducted more than a dozen workshops including Managing Difficult People and Situations, Effective Communication and Process Improvements in Manufacturing

I recently made a career change into the Education and Corporate and Community Education field.  My most recent position is as an adjunct instructor on two campuses in NY.I  recently completed a Poster Presentation with a colleague and in January 2010 presented Professional Development Opportunities for Adjunct Online Instructors at the Critical perspectives on professional learning conference at the Centre for Professional Education and Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Leeds, Leeds, UK. I was published in the ASTD Links Newsletter in August 2007, the article was titled:Attributes of a Resilient Organization in U.S. Manufacturing.

I am an active member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the Central New York Chapter (CNY-ASTD) where I am the Director of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and  a co-chair of the Social and Informal Learning SIG.Other associations I am actively involved with are the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) and the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).

Today I am conducting personal research on social and informal learning as well as preparing the student for the business world and preparing the business world for the recent graduate.

I have recently launched a blog geared toward Learning.


My professional objective is to partnership with a company where the customer, employee, vendor and community are a major focus.  Providing a service and having purpose within an organization that is progressive, flexible, embraces learning and values its employees for their experiences, creativity and initiative.  I believe as part of the leadership of any organization that developing employees professionally has the return desired because the employee will feel connected and valued thereby becoming more embedded in the goals of the entity and taking ownership and accountability in achieving those goals.
