Writing under the pen name C.S. Chatterly, Candace Sams has authored more than 40 titles in the fantasy, paranormal, romance, and futuristic genres in the past 12 years. Candace Sams has been honored as a five-time winner of the National Readers' Choice Award and has won over 30 total reader’s awards. Her literary distinctions include National Booksellers' Best Award finalist, Paranormal Excellence Award for Romantic Literature finalist, and Colorado Romance Writers' Award of Excellence finalist. Ms. Sams possesses over a decade of law enforcement experience, having served as police officer in Texas and San Diego. She also has experience as an Alabama ambulance crew chief and crew member, and has taught in the San Diego County Sheriff's Department’s Child Safety Program. Candace Sams had an “aha” moment when she decided to become a writer. When she could not find a book that truly interested her in a bookstore, she instead purchased several reference books on writing and began her journey towards publication. Ms. Sams earned her Bachelor’s in Agriculture at Texas A&M University, with a focus in Recreation and Parks. She served as an active member of the Omega Phi Alpha Service Sorority, volunteering in animal shelters and nursing homes, and took part in a number of intramural sports, including synchronized swimming and volleyball. Active in martial arts, Candace Sams is the senior woman member on the U.S. Kung Fu Team. She had the notable opportunity to travel to China with the team, where she was presented the Medal of Putien and the Statue of Tao by Grand Master Chee Kim Thong. Candace Sams has been married for over 20 years and enjoys gardening and weightlifting in her free time.
