Let Me Explain

Thank you for visiting my digital resume where you can see all my greatest achievements and accomplishments boiled down to a sentence. If you are interested in learning who I am as a flesh and blood, air breathing human, please continue reading!

I am a native of beautiful Southwest Michigan but have been living in West Tennessee for the last four years.

Ever since I can remember, I've always had this incredible zest for adventure, learning, change, new places, and warm weather. My Uncle lived in Tennessee and I thought, 'why not?' I decided to move  from my very small, conservative, everyone knows everyone hometown when I was 21 years old, leaving everything and everyone I love behind.

My time in Tennessee allowed me to pursue my education at an internationally recognized, top-ranked Christian university. Attending Union University forced me to push myself creatively, academically and professionally. It has afforded me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and experience diversity first hand.

I have grown so much as a person in my short time in Tennessee, I have a hard time remembering who I was five years ago. What I do remember are the sacrifices my parents made that allowed me to partake on this life-changing journey; for which I will always be grateful.

Do not be mistaken: my time in Tennessee has not always been rainbows and butterflies. But I believe it has contributed greatly to who I have become.

I have experienced hardship, rejection, failure, disappointment, and the loss of two very influential people in my life; one too young and unexpected and one too soon but expected. I have discovered that in those times of hardship and pain, how we react and move forward, defines who we are and what we are capable of.

I have allowed those experiences, as terrible as they were, to shape me in such a way that I know I can overcome anything. I can take on any challenge and I will exceed all expectations. I have proven that in my current job as the youngest assignment editor  WBBJ Channel 7 Eyewitness News has ever employed.

As thankful as I am for my time in Tennessee, I believe it is time for me to move on to bigger and better possibilities. I have made the decision to move back to my roots  and back to my first love in Southwest Michigan and I am excited to discover what possibilities are in store for me.

I hope my words will give you the ability to clearly see and understand who I am as a person, not just a job applicant. I also hope the insight I've offered into who I really am will leave a lasting impression on you.

If you have any questions or are interested in speaking with me, please feel free to contact me.

Assignment Manager

WBBJ Channel 7 Eyewitness News

As the assignment manager for the number one station in Jackson, Tennessee, I was the primary point of contact for the entire newsroom. Developing strong relationships both internally and externally is critical and this position depends on those relationships.

I am also responsible for day-to-day news coverage, story development and cross-platform ownership of the day’s top stories. Enterprising is the number one priority in finding and generating content for the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. and weekend newscasts.

Listening to the scanners, taking phone calls, managing several reporters, producers and photographers on a daily basis cannot be adequately executed without the ability to multitask at a very high level.

Quick decision-making skills, time management skills, being able to work under pressure and adhering to strict deadlines are paramount when managing a newsroom.

Senior Capstone Class Student / Marketing Representative

Hardeman County Literacy Council
Public Relations Campaigns is the capstone class for public relations majors at Union University.

The premise of the class examines the preparation of comprehensive public relations campaigns with an emphasis on critical thinking, working with a team and problem solving through the use of case studies. Our final class project was to create a public relations campaign plan for a non-profit organization and present our final plan to their board of directors.

Collectively we created a comprehensive public relations plan for the Hardeman County Literacy Council located in Bolivar, Tennessee.

The team developed a six-part, ten-step public relations plan for the literacy council for the following 12 months.

Within the plan, we comprised a background SWOT analysis, determined goals and objectives for the Hardeman County Literacy Council, created a tentative event calendar, a budget, a communication plan and tools for evaluation once the plan was implemented
