I am a skilled, energetic and passionate educator with a diverse background of vocational experience and community involvement.  I have experience working in college preparatory schools with high ESL populations. I enjoy getting to know my students, building programs that suit their particular needs, and helping them push themselves to increase their capacity as learners.

Advanced Placement Seminar Instructor (Grade 11 Students)

Trained in Miami by the College Board in order to implement the AP Seminar course (part of the AP Capstone Diploma program). This course focuses on identifying, evaluating, creating and communicating arguments using the QUEST Inquiry model (Question, Understand, Evaluate, Synthesize, Transform/Transmit), and seeks to increase student engagement and understanding of a topic through inquiry and authentic learning tasks.

I majored in History for 3 years while taking a double minor in Political Science and Sociology before transferring into the M.Ed program.

Personal Interests

  • Experience in coaching volleyball, basketball and badminton at both High School and Middle Years level. I've acted in and helped manage theater productions in High School and Middle School.
  • I love watching or playing many sports, playing guitar in a band or by myself, getting to know people, playing nerdy board games, going on walks with my wife, drinking coffee or when possible, dreaming up and creating craft brew beer recipes.
  • I am an avid outdoor enthusiast and love . I love kayaking, canoeing, fishing, day hiking and backpacking. I love to think of creative ways to utilize these passions in order to build character and life-long transferable skills with students in the outdoors. 
  • Proficient in the use of Macintosh and Microsoft operations systems and programs, and Google Education Applications. 
  • Avid reader with a particular interest in the topics of history, modern and classical fiction, economics, and current social/political trends and issues.
