Skills

10
Recruiting & Sales

Recruiting is sales.  You must convince a student-athlete, their family, and their support system that your school is the right place for them.  I have consistently signed players who were being recruited by bigger schools and situations by doing my research, being thorough, personable, persistent, and finding who the decision makers are.  This is what sales is!  I am able to develop strategic plans, execute them, and follow-up.  This also allow retention and new leads from my current "customers".

10
FUNDRAISING & MARKETING

In my two stops as a head coach, my programs broke all records for attendance both single game and season.  This was accomplished through community involvement, media relations, social media, game promotions, and speaking engagements.  Also, I have been involved in fundraising records as a head coach and assistant coach (most notably assisting in raising $80,000 in new money at Arkansas Tech).  This is done by selling value proposition, networking, integrity, and follow-up.

10
Scheduling & Travel Planning

As an administrator, assistant coach, and head coach I have done travel planning for multiple teams (buses, vans, flights, hotels, meals, etc.).    This includes securing travel contracts and making sure that we received the most value for our travel dollar.

In the realm of recruiting, I not only stayed under budget but was able to strategically plan to get see the most people as possible in the shortest time possible.  This allows for follow-ups on a more consistent basis, the development of new leads/business, and an opportunity to build stronger relationships with those you are calling on.

I was also responsible for scheduling not only games but also practices.  This includes times and facility uses along with scheduling support personnel and officials.

10
Technology & Office Organization

Every program that I have been associated with has tasked me with upgrading office and technology policies and procedures.  I have implemented numerous technology upgrades also.  Staying on top of technology has allowed me to be efficient and productive.  I am able to communicate and follow-up with more potential and current "clients" than others due to this.

10
Budget management

I have managed budgets both as a coach and administrator.  This includes but not limited to:  equipment purchases, scholarship budget, travel, office supplies & equipment, payroll, insurance, and facility use.  I have also negotiated contracts for travel, insurance, and equipment.
