Throughout her career, philanthropist, spokesmodel, and journalist Bui Simon has maintained involvement in a vast array of educational, professional, charitable, and personal endeavors, attaining a high level of achievement in each of her pursuits. Born in Thailand, Bui Simon grew up in her native country and the United States, building a strong sense of cross-cultural awareness.
Bui Simon, then Porntip Bui Nakhirunkanok, became Miss Thailand in 1988, earning the privilege to represent her country in the Miss Universe Pageant of the same year. Winning the title of Miss Universe, Bui Simon subsequently began a highly diversified career in modeling and philanthropy, serving as the official face of Pepsi, Revlon, and other brands in Thailand, along with a stint as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Widely considered one of the most vocal champions of civic outreach efforts and humanitarian causes in Thailand, Bui Simon spent many years as a representative for the Thai Tourism Authority and has built a sterling record of service for disadvantaged children in her native country. Recognized on numerous occasions for her charity work, Bui Simon was awarded the Thai Royal Medal of Honour by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1988. In addition, Bui Simon performed as Anchor on the hit news documentary program, 60 Minutes II in Thailand, broadcast on Bangkok National Radio and Television Broadcasting Corporation Channel 7.
Now primarily based in the United States, Bui Simon earned her B.A. in Psychology from Pepperdine University and, in 2002, launched Angels Wings Foundation International, Inc., in order to provide financial support to poor and underserved Thai communities through housing, education, healthcare, and other basic needs. Aside from her work as President of Angels Wings Foundation, Bui Simon has volunteered her time, energy, and resources to a number of other worthy causes, including the Dream Foundation and United Way of America. Married with 5 young children, Bui Simon lives with her family in Malibu, California.
