Brief Bio

-Designer and builder of experiences that transform American education 

Bryan Setser is the Chief Design Officer at Matchbook Learning. Bryan supports the Matchbook Learning team to design, build, and implement various efforts in Matchbook’s flagship school sites in Newark, NJ and Detroit, MI. He also leads the national Matchbook Accelerator work to scale the Matchbook Model and Methodology to states, districts, and schools across the country.

Previously, Bryan was a partner at 2Revolutions and his portfolio included some of the most innovative organizations in higher education and K-26. Sample clients included the Colorado Education Initiative, Yale University, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the American Council on Education, and the New Tech Network.

Bryan has also served as  CEO of the North Carolina Virtual School. During his tenure at NCVPS,  Bryan was a well-regarded curiosity creator and architect of America’s “digerati” movement in public education. Bryan revitalized and transformed the North Carolina Virtual School into a national model for e-learning serving over 50,000 students annually.

As a Chief Quality Officer of Iredell Statesville Schools, his school district was recognized as a Malcolm Baldrige National Award Winner and a national best practice staff development site by the American Productivity and Quality Council.

-Responsible for coaching and organizational analysis and development of the C-suite along with school principals and leadership teams; this work includes four direct reports

-Launched the company's first accelerator program in Washington, DC and is leading the current development of our work in Indianapolis with the Mind Trust both for a new direct managed site as well as an accelerator for the city principals

-Oversees all school design and support services management  for all direct managed and accelerator sites; sample projects include entrepreneurship high school, badge portfolio, digital artifacts,  PLC design, and community engagement

-Designed and developed state, network, district, and school solutions for future of learning models for over 30+ clients
