Information Assurance Officer

Serve as Information Assurance Technician (Military Occupational Specialty: 0689), while appointed as the Information Assurance Officer / Assistant Information Assurance Manager, and technical advisor on short, mid, and long term programs to maintain and improve IT operations for Marine Forces Command and subordinate units while meeting information assurance (IA) / IT security requirements. Currently hold the highest certification for Information Technology and Information Assurance, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), to meet DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technician level III and Information Assurance Manager level III. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with information technology and information assurance plans, policies, standards, and guidelines that establish the framework for the management of the classified and unclassified networks. Expert in information assurance vulnerability alert compliance with Retina, Hercules, HarrisStat, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), Gold Disk, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Symantec anti-virus, and Host Based Security System (HBSS). Possess excellent customer service skills with high stress tolerance for successful reasoning with all levels of management and customers while influencing educated decisions to best support the mission. Analyze and define network and system requirements to ensure infrastructure and architecture can support customer business needs. Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures for configuring and maintaining systems in support of IA and IT operations. Create, review, and certify information assurance certification and accreditation (C and A) packages according to DITSCAP / DIACAP and FISMA to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified and unclassified networks. Assist in identifying, analyzing, and solving complex computer system problems involving hardware, software, and network systems. Provide analytical skills, problem solving, creative thinking, and decision making as part of the configuration management control board for systems, applications, and services. Provide professional mentorship and training of 6 junior team members with emphasis on leadership, teamwork, technical competence, attention to detail, and self-management. Design and present information assurance awareness training to all hands as required by the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002. Expert in areas of vulnerability management and mitigation, information management, system design life cycle, business processes, and strategic and organizational planning. Serve as senior IA team member in the implementation of the command contingency plan to ensure network and system capabilities, equipment, and customer IT support services exist for customers in alternate headquarters location.
