Bachelors of Arts, Management/ Marketing

Lenoir- Rhyne University

I have attended Lenoir-Rhyne since the fall of 2007. I will have earned two liberal arts degrees in May 2011, and as well complete my stint in a collegiate varsity sport. Thanks to the professor to student ratio at Lenoir-Rhyne, I was able to develop a personal relationship with professors and students. As a business student, we interacted in many group activities and by the relationships that we built it was easier for us to complete and learn our assignments together.

Work experience

May 2009Jul 2009

Intern/Marketing Associate

Drake Enterprise allowed me to have a 3 month internship with their retail store chain in which I dealt directly with managing and marketing of two different sports retail stores and a christian radio station. I performed multiple marketing campaigns for both The Sports Zone and WPFJ The Dove radio station, such as the North Carolina Coaching Clinic in Greensboro, NC for The Sports Zone and the opening of the Smokey Mountain Center of the Performing Arts located in Franklin, NC. I gained optimal marketing and selling experience through this internship.

This position allowed me to experience first hand what it takes to run a business. I grew as a person during this work experience, due to learning the value of money. I learned how to be frugal and save my income properly so that I could invest it later in the future.

Robert's Lawn Service

I successfully owned and operated my own business which maintained lawns and landscape. This business successfully grossed over $10,000 per year. This experience allowed me to gain important business skills that will be a valuable asset for any organization or company.

I have always had a sense of confidence. I have exploited this by being able to speak in front of a large crowd such as my teammates, coaches and fellow students. I was able to confidently lead my team to a conference championship my sophomore and senior years in high school and I am currently speaking to large classrooms of my peers and other professors. I have also performed music in front of large crowds and I have had a successful music career. Through this experience, I feel like I would be a valuable asset to any company.
Team Values
I value the team concept, due to my involvement at a student-athlete. I have had to value the team concept through the trials and tribulations I have experienced with my teammates in football. I feel like this would be a valuable asset to any company because I have experienced the use of "team before self" skill. This skill is very useful in the business world since many companies use group work to accomplish their goal.
I am held accountable everyday as a student-athlete. I have obligations in order to be able to stay on the team, such as my grade point average and a drug free lifestyle. All of my teammates hold me accountable in order for us to achieve a common goal, VICTORY. Without being accountable, I would let them down and we would not succeed as a team. This skill can be taken out into the working world by having coworkers depending on me to complete a project or simply the task at hand.

Outdoor Exploring, Weight Lifting and Music are some of my favorite interest. I hunt and fish as often as available. I enjoy all of these activities because this is how I cope with stress. While doing these productive activities, It helps relieve the stresses in my life. I feel some stress is key to motivation, but if I minimize my stress I will be successful and so will the organization that I will represent. I also enjoy auto racing and many other sports.

To obtain a position as a junior analyst  where I will be able to maximize my work ethic, work well with a team and help establish a great work environment for others.

I am a student at Lenoir-Rhyne University and will be graduating in May of 2011. Upon leaving I will obtain two degrees, Marketing and Management, both from the Charles Snipes School of Business. Through my experience at Lenoir-Rhyne I have developed a great personality, team values and a sense of confidence. I feel all of these traits could not have been developed without the interactions of being a student-athlete and attending a liberal arts institute.
