The project involved the design, construction, and implementation of a patient management application on a distributed MS Access database over a Peer to Peer network for six end users.  After 2 weeks I was placed in charge of the project, coordinating the efforts of three people, addressing end user concerns, and reporting to the Hospice Director.

  • Technical direction and support of 4 business groups and the Internal Applications they use.
  • Design, Implementation and Support of 5 Work Flow and Project management Applications using Access/Sql Server.
  • Design Implementation and support of several Microsoft  SSIS Packages providing ETL functionality for supported applications.
  • Highlights
    • Developed a Data Driven Reporting Application in Access/Sql Server where new reports can be created very quickly by simply updating data in the database.
    • Developed a Request Management System in Access interfaced with MS Outlook to track email requests
    • Developed MS Outlook Macros that combine with MS SSIS packages to load spreadsheets received by email
    • Enhanced an existing Workflow Application to use User driven work queues

  • Continued technical leadership role in AdvanceClinical environment. Expanded resource leadership role by making hiring and firing recommendations and mentoring all new team members.
  • Directed the rapid growth of AdvanceClinical environment from 1 initial application of 3 targeting and communication programs to 12 applications consisting of hundreds of targeting and communication programs. This rapid growth was realized in a 5 year time span.
  • Directed the migration of AdvanceClinical through 3 infrastructure upgrades.
  • Assigned as technical lead for projects outside of AdvanceClinical using SQL Server and Crystal Reports.
  • Participated as a co-technical lead in various enterprise targeting application projects.

  • Selected to lead Rapid Application Development project in an effort to be more responsive to business needs.
  • Maintained technical lead role on original application team.
  • Became Enterprise resource for SQL Server and Crystal Reports.
  • Worked with a Business Analyst to create a proposal for an enterprise level clinical targeting application.  The design focused on flexibility and reusability to allow the development of new targeting applications with great speed to market.

  • Became technical lead for team and 4 applications.

  • Completed 3 month training class for college graduates.
  • Quickly progressed from coding of specifications produced by senior developers to full lifecycle project ownership.
  • By the end of 1998, I was considered the subject matter expert in the application my team supported.
