Agency 7 is a class offered at IU for admitted students. I was elected Managing Director to oversee the teams client-work and delegate assignments where needed.
The IU Media School website reads:
"The course is designed as a real-world, service learning experience for junior and senior students who actively participate in an agency practicum that provides actual business clients with public relations, advertising and marketing communications services.
The agency is managed by students who work in teams that develop communication strategy and creative development for their clients. In Milan, Italy I worked for a start-up company which allowed me to work closely with my boss and see first-hand how a company operates. I had the opportunity to ask questions, attend networking events, and learn about the e-commerce business at conferences and meetings. Tasks included:
The most important role of a board member is standing as an accountable leader for the annual National Student Advertising Competition. The campaign is a start-to-finish project done for a new client each year, and incorporates all aspects of marketing, advertising, journalism, and communications.
On the executive team I work closely with the club president and the other board members to plan, organize, and facilitate club activities. This includes seeking freelance work, gaining partnerships, organizing funds, and managing trips.
As a Media School ambassador I share my academic and extracurricular experiences to prospective students, give them tours, and answer their questions. I also assist with events and provide hospitality to the public figures we host.
NowThis Media tells news stories with short-form video, tailored for the social and mobile user. As a campus brand ambassador I help get their message across to IU students, work campus events to promote the organization, and also distribute NowThis merchandise.
I'm a proud ambassador for the organization that helped me study and work abroad in Italy, IES (International Education of Students). As an ambassador I help my home university talk with students who are thinking about going abroad, and I work with students who are currently abroad and answer emails/prepare informational materials that IES might want.
