Brian Butler has over 10 years experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, global business and technology, and is the co-founder of Brazil America Ventures, an international business development consultancy and venture capital advisory services company.

In addition to authoring an online guide to business in Brazil, Mr. Butler has over 7 years experience working in Brazil.  As founder of Marcusso Designs, he formed a Joint Venture with Suriana Trading in Sao Paulo, and successfully helped establish exports from Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo and Recife, Brazil.  Mr. Butler is currently splitting his time between Miami and Recife, Brazil and has been involved with market entry consulting for American companies entering the Brazilian marketplace.

Mr. Butler previously worked as a startup consultant at NextLogics, a boutique investment and consulting firm focused on early stage endeavors with social impact.  While working with NextLogics, he worked with "Global Social Capital": a peer-to-peer micro lending / micro finance platform for Latin America.  Mr. Butler also developed business plans for a WiFi mesh network for Brazil which involved WiFi infrastructure investment project for the NE of Brazil.

Mr. Butler also writes for GloboTrends, a blog dedicated to global macro economic trends and innovation, and is involved in teaching global economics, finance and trade with Thunderbird Global MBA in Miami.  Mr. Butler is an entrepreneur and the founder of the very popular "", an online wiki-based resource for investors and entrepreneurs, with an emphasis on investing in emerging markets. 

Mr. Butler previously was a technology-industry analyst with the "Columbia Institute of Tele-Information" (of the Columbia Business School), focusing on new technologies and innovative business models. 

At the beginning of his career, Mr. Butler worked as a global supply chain manager with Honda of America Manufacturing, and as an industrial engineer with Summit Polymers, a plastic injection molding company in Michigan.

Marcusso Designs is a marketing and distribution company that I founded to focus on imported high-end furniture from Brazil. • Prepared and implemented the company’s strategic plan • Constructed complex financial models to assist with investment decisions • Forecasted monthly cash flows for planning and financing purposes • Negotiated working capital credit terms with suppliers and customers. • Set up accounting system for the company using QuickBooks software. • Negotiated contracts for exclusive distribution rights with factories from Brazil. • Managed team of sales representatives in the US
