A leading figure in the Florida Republican party, Brian Ballard serves on the National Leadership Team for Romney for President 2012 and as the state’s Finance Co-Chair. He balances these activities with his duties as the President of Ballard Partners, Inc., a Florida governmental advocacy firm. As such, Brian Ballard represents the interests of his clientele before the state’s legislature and executive branch. He also performs as of counsel for Panza, Maurer & Maynard, PA, a law firm concentrating on regulatory and legislative issues. Brian Ballard’s involvement in governmental affairs dates back to 1983, when he interned for the Office of Management and Budget in the White House. In the years that followed, he obtained a Juris Doctor from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. After graduation, he joined the staff of Florida Governor Bob Martinez, ultimately reaching the post of Chief of Staff. During his three years with the Governor, Brian Ballard played a key role in protecting the state’s natural resources. He served as the driving force behind Preservation 2000, which stands as the most sizable acquisition of ecologically sensitive land in the country. In addition, his negotiations with the U.S. Department of the Interior put a stop to offshore drilling in the Florida Keys and near the state’s southeast shoreline. At the end of Governor Martinez’s term, Brian Ballard rejoined the White House staff. During this time, he facilitated the confirmation of the former Governor as the Director of the Office of National Drug Policy. Mr. Ballard also performed on the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service Advisory Council. Returning once again to Florida, he established a lobbying partnership, which later became Ballard Partners, Inc.
