Bartenders prepare, mix and serve drinks and beverages correctly to either customers directly or through serving staff.Bartenders must always check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age. Cash handling experience is a must for both positions. It is always important to up sell food and beverages and make recommendations. 

The restaurant hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the hostess to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them.
The responsibilities of the hostess include monitoring the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables, estimating wait times for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting. The hostess is often responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations and moving tables together to accommodate large parties.

Working as a server in a restaurant does not qualify me for this kind of position. I am however, very acquainted with working in a fast-paced environment, multi-task between different tables, running food and drinks, helping crew members, and solving problems quickly. I utilize my merchandising techniques to up sell promotional menus and drink specials in my table sections.

Volunteer Work

I believe anything related to marketing would be a great place for someone to volunteer at. I know friends who help pass out flyers, post to Facebook, or Instant Message invites to upcoming concerts and other events.
