Educated at the University of Colorado, Bret Dudl studied marketing and business and graduated in 1996. He then joined Mass Mutual as a Retirement Plans Professional. After focusing on 401(k) plans at Mass Mutual, Bret Dudl started SFG Benefits Financial in 2000. The company provided 401(k) advising, and he ran the entire business, including marketing, sales, operations, and management. Bret Dudl maintained a 65% profit margin and grew it to over $100 million. He then sold his business to Intercare Insurance solutions in San Diego and accepted a position as Vice President of Retirement Plans, where he increased the retirement plan assets from $100 million to $300 million.In 2008, Bret Dudl founded La Joya Perfecta as a wellness center for the community of Costa Rica. In remembrance of his brother, who died of lung cancer, Bret Dudl worked to create a place where people could come to learn new habits and live healthier lives.An accredited investment fiduciary, Bret Dudl serves on the Board of Directors of the Downtown YMCA and holds membership with the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). For the 10 years from 1996 until 2006, Bret Dudl appeared on the radio as a talk show host on the Inside Business Radio Show. As part of his position, he frequently interviewed San Diego CEOs, in total over 250 during his time on the show.  Bret Dudl grew up in La Jolla, California, and attended La Jolla High. He has always been attached to his local community and had a strong interest in sports, particularly, Surfing, Yoga, and the Olympics. As a way to give back to his community, he founded a nonprofit called Painting San Diego. The organization gives free painting services to charities that help children and their families. Groups that Bret Dudl supports include the Burnham Institute for Cancer Research and the Eric Dudl Scholarship Fund, established in honor of his brother.Currently a resident of California, Bret Dudl also serves as an advocate of environmental preservation. He supports programs for saving the jungles of Costa Rica and working for a cleaner ocean. While building La Joya Perfecta, he conserved 90 acres of rainforest. In his free time, he enjoys staying physically active and often heads to the beach to surf.
