Summary

As a farmer, master gardener, supporting member of the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALA) and a student member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, I am a firm believer that children are greatly  influenced by their surrounds which can positively or negatively effect a child's health status.  This is why I am focusing my nutrition career on implementing a farm based learning environment to stimulate a positive learning experience  that focuses on the essential skills necessary for a healthy lifestyle.

By combining my Ornamental Horticulture skills with my Nutrition Science major and Sustainable Agriculture minor from The university of Alabama,  I plan on educating others on where their food comes from by creating a teaching farm that will engage students mind and body to learn about the importance of community, food and nutrition.
