Legislative Aide/Social Media Coordinator

OR State Senator Winters
  • Developed an online presence on Twitter and Facebook from scratch for the senator to connect with constituents more effectively and frequently
  • Created a social media calendar and subsequent content to be posted on a semi-daily basis across platforms during the 2015 legislative session
  • Wrote 2-4 pieces of press material a week to engage constituents with issues they believed were important
  • Coordinated and facilitated meetings with caucus staff, lobbyists and constituents regarding specific bills or concerns, briefing the senator on any vital information she needed in order to make a budget decision in committee
  • Counselled the senator daily on floor votes, ranging in how committees voted on them to how constituents wanted her to vote
  • Promoted from intern to salary staff as time and responsibilities given to me increased

Grassroots Campaigns Inc
  • Raised $10,000+ for Doctors without Borders, Planned Parenthood and ACLU as an individual over the course of three months to help with the emerging Ebola crisis, access to clinics and supporting marriage equality
  • Developed and refined training programs for paid fundraisers who implemented it in Seattle and across the country
  • Assisted in the financial paperwork on a day to day basis to ensure the money and paperwork was accounted for from the 25 activists in the office and collected $250,000+ over the course of the summer, beating our office goal
  • Participated in conference calls with national directors to establish timelines, schedules, trainings and goals for the Greater Seattle Area office

  • Led tour groups of 2-16 constituents or lobbyists around the Capitol who were visiting Washington, DC from Oregon
  • Assisted in the editing of the congressman’s website and newsletter which is sent out to 750,000 constituents

Assistant Youth Programs Director

  • Organized the six youth camps hosted on campus during the summer, ranging from hiring to dealing with day to day issues
  • Held interviews for the hiring of the teachers and assistants who taught the science camps and collaborated on lesson plans for each teacher to execute
  • Researched and Purchased materials needed for each science section, contacted various science leaders to come speak (achieved 6 speakers in total)

  • Oversaw 30+ Sports, Outdoor, Media and Gaming clubs - assisting them with campus recognition, aiding them with budgeting and helping them transition between leadership teams
  • Developed a comprehensive social media agenda for different workshops and events offered to club presidents and treasurers
  • Specialized in financial advice in order for the 100+ student organizations to practice responsible budgeting
  • Met on a weekly basis for continued education and training in order to improve as a team and update objectives and tactics

  • Led a group of 16 students for three consecutive years throughout transitional programming acting as a mentor and providing campus resources
  • Co-created an effective and inclusive week long course that welcomed the students to campus

As the Social Media Coordinator I interacted with media on a daily basis and across new media and in person.

During my time at Willamette I became familiar with all programs within Microsoft Office, including their email client.
