Senior Valuation Staff

Whitley Penn LLP

At Whitley Penn I've prepared valuations of private, generally closely-held entities with typical revenues of $5mm-$100mm. Our valuations are performed under the three generally accepted valuation approaches: the asset approach, the market approach, and the income approach. I've focused primarily on valuations for equity issued as compensation, financial reporting (including goodwill impairment, purchase price allocations, and intangible asset valuation), estate and gift tax, and litigation support (including corporate/partnership disputes).

My day-to-day responsibilities involve the entire valuation process from the bottom-up, including client management; subject company, economic, and industry research; financial analysis and forecasting; synthesis of value; and the resultant valuation reports. Additionally, I'm responsible for training entry-level staff and working with managers and partners to assign them to projects, as well as perform primary review of entry-level staff work.

I'm also heavily involved in the continued development and refinement of our proprietary valuation models, mostly notably in leading the development of a robust, eight-method cost of capital model and a guideline public company valuation model which uses S&P CapitalIQ's Excel plug-in and syntax.

Tax Intern

Grant Thornton LLP

As a tax intern at Grant Thornton I worked on the state income tax team to calculate tax liabilities for partnerships & S/C-Corps and prepare federal partnership returns with an emphasis on real estate partnerships. I also had exposure to the international tax group and researched tax treaty/transfer pricing implications for clients with foreign operations in order to compile an analysis of Subpart F regulations for presentation to clients.
