The co-founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Solby, a multi-industry holding company with offices in 17 countries, Boris Goldstein began his entrepreneurial career as a young man in Latvia. Educated in Applied Mathematics at Rigas Tehniska Universitate, Dr. Goldstein was one of a few young Latvian inventors to consistently file more than 20 patents for inventions every year. In 1989, Boris Goldstein arrived early in the morning on the first day the Latvian government allowed the registration of private companies to register seven businesses, including Software House High Technology. Despite never having seen a hundred dollar bill before, Dr. Goldstein boldly declared the software firm would net a $1 million profit in its first year. Boris Goldstein not only met and exceeded his ambitious goal, he helped build the company into a leading software and hardware development firm with operations in 12 countries in just over three years. At Solby, Boris Goldstein headed the company’s investments in a variety of diversified businesses in the mineral, forestry, and financial sectors. Dr. Goldstein sits on the boards of such companies as the CBSF Group, eForex, and E*Trade Eurasia. In 1999, Dr. Goldstein accepted the role of Managing Director of the Pacific Venture Fund, where he advises companies in a variety of fields that include oil and gas, alternative energy, biotechnology, and multimedia.When away from work, Boris Goldstein enjoys traveling and has traveled extensively around the world by himself. Dr. Goldstein’s first long solo trip took him from Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, to the Fergana Valley, a journey through mountains and desert that lasted 40 days.
