I’m Bob Nelson. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Advertising. While in college I became involved with the American Marketing Association and I am still an active member today.
I joined Pentair Water in May 2004 as a Marketing Intern and was quickly promoted to Marketing Coordinator where I successfully added hundreds of thousands of dollars to my company’s bottom line. As a Marketing Coordinator, I won the Shining Star Award from Pentair in 2007 for my successful coordination and management of trade shows and special events. Here is what Peter Gorr, Director of Marketing for Pentair had to say:
“As the Marketing Coordinator, Bobby is responsible for planning and coordinating special events. This responsibility includes ensuring all products, graphics and marketing materials are shipped to the convention centers, the booth is setup properly, the product is inspected, and the booths have the proper electrical, Internet and water utilities. He also schedules hotel rooms for employees and handles contracts. Coordinating the multitude of details for one of these shows is a daunting task. To successfully coordinate all three in such a short amount of time is a miracle. And the fact that all three went smoothly and without a hitch is a testament to Bobby’s exceptional efforts and dedication. Therefore I believe he is more than deserving of the “Shining Star Award”.”
This sparked a passion in me for the organization and management of trade shows. I carried this into my next promotion to Associate Product Manager. In this role I was responsible for the development, launch and management of several multi-million dollar product lines. Taking marketing to another level, I produced a suite of sales force tools to help overcome objections, and raised the closed ratio by 10%.
In my book, there’s nothing better than getting up every morning and being excited to get to work and make a difference. I would like to remain in the southern Wisconsin / northern Illinois area as this is where my family lives, and I am also very involved with my local Lion’s Club. I am currently seeking new opportunities that offer a challenging and rewarding environment where I can contribute my positive mentoring skills and proven marketing genius.
