Attorney Bob Ellis Helps Lead Louisiana’s Redevelopment

About Bob Ellis New Orleans

As a partner with the New Orleans law firm of Canlas Ellis, attorney Bob Ellis concentrates on corporate law and business development. As an entrepreneur, he’s always concerned with identifying sources of funding for projects and startups. While he served as a general counsel and vice president of the Uptown Solar Group, Bob Ellis was able to secure foreign financing for the company under the terms of the federal EB-5 program, a visa program that encourages job-creating investment in return for immigration.

Bob Ellis earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas at Austin and then went into a joint degree program at Loyola University, where he earned both an MBA and a JD. One of the highlights of his career was the seven years he served as a deputy city attorney, in which capacity he was a valuable resource for the city’s administration and legislature in areas related to business, finance, and taxation. After Hurricane Katrina struck the city in 2005, he was named an essential person in its operation.

Dedicated to the cause of redeveloping Louisiana’s economy, Bob Ellis also serves as a manager and principal of the Gulf Coast Regional Center, which encourages investment in Louisiana enterprises through the EB-5 program. When he is not attending to his professional obligations, Mr. Ellis enjoys sport fishing off the Louisiana coast, bicycling, and beta testing video games.
