The Choices Planner showed me a lot about possible jobs in the future. I learned about what all three of these jobs require in terms of basic skills and professional skills. I learned what the possible ranges of money you could make from these jobs. I could also see if the jobs were growing or declining. All three that I picked had high levels of growth which I liked. I really would like to work with hedge funds, investment banking, or commercial real estate.

Vision Statement & Action Plan

Vision Statement:

In 5-10 years I see my life being very different from the way it is right now. I will keep the same qualities of my character and values, but be in a different place in my life. I will have liked to have graduated from University of Alabama Undergrad. Then I will have gone to get my MBA from somewhere similar to Boston College. I would then like to get a job at a hedge fund company(Goldman Sachs, Paulson Gold, Citadel, etc.) on Wall Street.I would like to have a serious girlfriend and be looking to get married in my mid to late twenties. This is simply because I want to get my career under control before I start my family so I can be around more often. I would like to workout 4-5 times a week and continue to be playing golf and tennis. I would also like to be attending church regularly and go on mission trips to places that could use my help. I would like to live right outside of New York City and make the commute. Later on in life I would like to possibly start my own company and move down south. I just need to remember to keep my values and character throughout my whole life. 

Action Plan:

6-Month Short Term Goals:

Short Term Goal #1: Try to get 6 doubles wins and 4 singles wins in season

·Evidence goal is reached: At the end of the season tally it up!

·Steps to achieve goal:

1. Work extremely hard on fitness

2. Hit 3 hours 6 days a week

·Possible obstacles:

1. Christmas break (continuing to work)

2. Injuries

·Date Deadline: May 1st 2012

Short Term Goal #2: Get in best shape I’ve ever been in

·Evidence goal is reached: 8% body fat

·Steps to achieve goal:

1. Continue to work out extremely hard 6 times a week.

2. Diet & nutrition needs to be on point

·Possible obstacles:

1.Bad nutrition through the holidays

2.Not scheduling extra workout time

·Date Deadline: May 1st 2012

Short Term Goal #3: Get Internship at Goldman Sachs

·Evidence goal is reached: Getting a 6-week summer internship!

·Steps to achieve goal:

1. I know a partner at Goldman Sachs so I’m very lucky

What I learned from the activities: Future goal setting. 

Culminating Group Service Learning Project

Description of Problem: Holding teammates accountable over breaks and specifically Christmas Break.

Description of Solution: Call and talk with each one about the 3 goals they had. Separated into workouts, nutrition, and hitting. 

Targeted Actions:

  • Not have to make up for lost time over the break when we should be training and getting ready for the season. 
  • This will also help my teammates discipline. 
  • Communication skills 

Community Engagement Exercise

Individual or Organization Chosen for engagement exercise: Kyle Starke who is from Atlanta, Ga. I did not know him well before coming to school now he is my roommate. I learned a lot about his more serious side during this interview because he likes to joke! He and I have become better friends since the interview and I think it was a big reason why. 

Reason and Rationale for Choice of engagement exercise: Kyle and I grew up in different families and have different beliefs. He is a great guy and is great to live with. He and I feel the same way on a lot of subjects like music, tennis, football, hobbies, etc. He and I also do have our differences in opinions when it comes to politics, workouts, and movies. It's funny to see the similarities and differences because they aren't always obvious.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Name of Strength: Seeks to unify the team. 

I always try to bring the team together because I feel the chemistry on the team can't be beat. I feel if everyone is gelling with everyone a lot of good things can happen when game time comes. I have been taught this from my parents ever since I played baseball at a very young age. 

The other day My team, coaches, and I went to play ultimate frisbee. As we were playing i noticed a couple of the guys on my team started to get overly aggressive while guarding each other. Finally it got to the point where one shoved the other an they both started getting in each other's faces. I was lucky to be so close and ran out in between them. Then the coaches brought everyone in and obviously said there's no need for this type of play. That's when I stepped up and said that this game was worth the end of a friendship or broken bones. Everyone agreed and we all went back to playing competitively, but fairly. 

I sensed that the team's bond was breaking a little bit during this situation so I quickly started trying to unify the team. This is why I did what I did. Then the two guys went back to being completely fine and we had a great game. 

Name of Weakness: Bouncing back from mistakes or errors.
