Design Director

The Magnolia Companies

Responsible for a several person team to design, plan and manage the construction and tenant turn-over of more than 500,000 SF of mixed use spaces for a commercial real estate developer.  There were 4 office parks that we designed and implemented.

Pre-design services included entitlements, special use permits, and neighborhood and city council presentation meetings.  Design phase included direction of architectural and engineering teams for the parks and building shells, and in house design for the tenant spaces.  Construction phase included oversight of bidding and construction process, to project completion and tenant turn-over.  Tenant types included offices, restaurants, hair salons, retail stores, drive-thrus, manufacturing and distribution space, and a grocery store.

Senior Designer & Project Manager

Domus Design Group

Scope of work at Domus Design Group was to provide design and project management for commercial facilities and public spaces.

Signature projects and tasks include:

Renovation design and management of an historic 1500 seat theater in downtown Reno hit by flooding of the neighboring river.  Entire stage, lower level and main floor seating area were devastated and had to be abated and renovated in a very short amount of time.  Also added an elegantly expandable donor wall at the main floor, viewable from indoors and out.

Project Management for AT&T's Global Real Estate Western Division's capital projects in Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington.  AT&T is an ISO 9001 company and therefore I was audited and passed by Lloyds of London during the 4 years I worked this contract.  Extensive weekly travel throughout the Western Region for my entire tenure was required.  Encompassed nearly 500,000 square feet of collective projects.

Summary

Using the sustainable design and conscious capitalism business principles of People . Planet . Prosperity, Kimberly helps organizations and agencies create inspiring environments, exceed environmental expectations, increase human and societal well-being, and move beyond profitability and into prosperity.

The daughter of a pediatric nurse practitioner and a pediatric respiratory therapist, Kimberly grew up working in several children’s health facilities in her native Florida.  Early on, she witnessed numerous childhood ailments that were suspicious in their origin, many of these ailments seemingly exacerbated by occupancy within certain buildings or near polluting industries.  This experience left a lasting impression that underscores Kimberly’s career path in sustainable built environments.

Kimberly has been named one of the Top 20 Women under the age of 40 in Commercial Real Estate by Commercial Real Estate Women Network’s “20 Under 40” Award.  She is also working with the University of Nevada, Reno to develop an online Sustainability Certificate program for their Extended Studies School for business leaders, planners, building professionals and entrepreneurs.  Kimberly just returned from Brazil where she was chosen to represent Rotary International during a Group Study Exchange. Most recently, Kimberly was appointed a Regional Chair position with the Center for Green Schools.  Her role will be to connect institutions of higher learning to the sustainability community for the benefit of both students and the burgeoning local business economy.

Objective

To help organizations and agencies create inspiring environments, exceed environmental expectations, increase human and societal well-being, and move beyond profitability and into prosperity.
