Like the rest of the world, COVID-19 terrifies me.
I'm worried about my family. My community. The local economy. The global economy. My partner is a mental health nurse who might get redeployed to the ICU. My mom just shut down her personal training business after 25 years.
The virus is everywhere, and no one can predict what will happen next.
All these anxieties, yet I am in the most fortunate position possible. I can work from home. I'm healthy. The rent will get paid.
I can't imagine what millions of people are experiencing now, and millions more will experience in the next few months.
Already companies are laying off thousands of employees, with some predicting US unemployment could reach 30%. These numbers are staggering. 78% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and will be looking for work in a desperate time.
The least we can do is help where we can.
