Summary

My first interest in percussion was in 1987. During middle school I was introduced into marching percussion. While still in middle school, I was given the opportunity to perform with the Amelia High School marching band. After graduating from Amelia High School, I was given the role as the bass tech. After deciding to join the Marine Corps in 2001 I had to leave the group. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2005, I became the bass tech for Apex Winter Percussion and was also the Assistant Percussion Director at Colerain High School, as well as going back as serving as bass tech for Amelia High School. I have been on the percussion staff for many percussion ensembles and winter percussion groups throughout Cincinnati including Apex Winter Percussion, Colerain High School, Amelia High School, Glen Este High School. IN 2007 I was very fortunate to have been able to shadow under Corey Roberson who was the bass tech for Music City Mystique. While shadowing under Cory Roberson, I learned valuable skills to teach larger ensembles and to become a well rounded bass tech. Although I only went to a few selected rehearsals with Corey, I was able to bring new ideas to the groups I currently teach for. Currently I am the percussion director at Anderson High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am also a director for a new group that will compete in WGI as well as Tristate Circuit, The Forest hills Percussion Ensemble is in combination of Turpin High School (2012 Tristate Gold Medalists) and Anderson High School (2013 Tristate Gold medalists). Since being in the same school district, we have decided to combine resources. While teaching these ensembles, there were several medals awarded in the circuits they competed in, including 1 bronze, 3 silver, and 1 Gold from Tristate Circuit in 2013 for Anderson Winter Percussion. I have also served as drill writer for a few of these groups and still design drill for Anderson Winter Percussion. For the 2014 TriState Circuit season, I will begin shadowing to become a percussion judge for the circuit.
