Summary

Bob Linscheid is the President & CEO of the Linscheid Company with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally formed in 1993, our principal operations involve comprehensive public relations and management services for a number of economic development organizations, trade associations, small businesses, and professional sports teams located in California.

Bob Linscheid is the past President & CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce the largest and most inclusive business membership organization in San Francisco. Acting on its mission to attract, develop, and retain business in the city, the Chamber serves more than 2,500 member businesses and 250,000 employees through advocacy, business and economic development, and its foundation partners the San Francisco Center for Economic Development (SFCED), Leadership San Francisco (LSF),  Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), and UNITE SF the City's comprehensive educational initiative.

Bob is the past Chairman of the Board of the California State University Board of Trustees. He served on the Board from 2005 to 2014. During his term on the Board he chaired Campus Planning Buildings and Grounds, Government Relations, and served on Educational Policy, Finance, Institutional Advancement and Collective Bargaining Committees.

He received his BA and Masters degrees in Public Administration from Chico State and served a term as Associated Student Body President. Bob has received numerous service awards including the College of Business Person of the Year, Executive of the Year for the Western Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Humanitarian of the Year for Rotary District 5160 in 2003, and is a four-time Paul Harris Fellow Recipient in Rotary International. He is also a founder of Leadership Chico and served as President of Chico Rotary. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco #2. Bob has also been on three Rotaplast missions to South America (Venezuela, Chile, and Columbia). Linscheid is also a graduate of Leadership San Francisco in 2015.

For over twenty-five years Bob Linscheid was involved in the marketing and business attraction of companies to the North State region; for over 5 years he was specifically focused on innovation creating a local tech council comprised of many of the region’s leading CEOs and entrepreneurs.

In 2001, Linscheid led a collaborative marketing effort in which voters in the Butte-Glenn Community College District approved Measure A, an $84.9 million dollar general obligation bond to construct, repair, and equip classrooms, libraries, science/computer labs, and facilities; upgrade energy conservation, lighting, electrical, ventilation, and plumbing systems for the district.

In 2008, Bob was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Chico State.

Chaired the Board of Trustees at a very difficult economic period when budget cuts exceeded a billion dollars in state support. Led the Board through a new strategic direction while hiring 19 new Presidents of the 23 campus system including the transition to a new Chancellor.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the oversight of the California State University system. The Board adopts rules, regulations, and policies governing the California State University system. The Board has authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities, and fiscal and human resources management.

The California State University is the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most affordable university systems in the country. We are the gateway institution for the great majority of students seeking a baccalaureate education in California, and for those who seek professional training as teachers, nurses, social workers, and engineers. We have tremendous impact on the education, lives, economy, and the future of Californians and people throughout the world.

The Board of Trustees governs this diverse and complex 23-campus system by:

  1. developing broad administrative policy for the campuses;
  2. providing broad direction and coordination to campus curricular development;
  3. overseeing the efficient management of funds, property, facilities and investments by the system and the campuses;
  4. appointing the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors for the system, and the Presidents for the campuses as chief executives with certain delegated responsibilities; and communicating to the people of California an understanding;
  5. appreciation of the current effectiveness and the future needs of the California State University.

The primary goal of CEPCO is to create new jobs and new wealth for the Chico Community by aiding in the retention and expansion of existing businesses, providing local residents employment, and attracting new businesses to the area.

We believe that economic development is one of our most important community services, and a crucial function that provides the kind of boost that keeps our economy strong and allows us to maintain a high quality of life.

Action Committees include:

  • Talent Mobilization Strategy - improve workforce preparation by strengthening the partnerships between industry and education, public agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • Come Home to Chico - strives to capitalize on the affinity Chico State alumni have for the community by providing these alumni with opportunities in investment, business start-up, employment, and trips to Chico.
  • Chico Innovation Council (CIC) (Job Creation Committee) - foster entrepreneurship, business growth, job creation, attract new high-growth industries, achieve job/housing balance, promote growth of existing industry clusters including innovation, technology and manufacturing companies.
  • Ag Council- (2012)- creating a council of Ag businesses in the Chico region to help educate the general business and community population about the importance of Agriculture and to assist with efforts in Ag Innovation with the University and programs supporting Agriculture in the region.
