Corporate manager of all welfare and retirement benefit plans for 6,500 employees located throughout the United States and Canada. Worked with brokers/consultants, carriers and administrative vendors for smooth operation of benefit plans. Administered 401(k) plans, including base plan with assets totaling over $83 million, union money purchase plans, and tandem executive non-qualified deferred compensation plans. Worked with Plant Human Resources Managers to ensure employee communication, enrollment, and issue resolution for all benefit plans. Prepared and reviewed required documentation for benefit programs. Developed employee handbook and HIPAA compliance processes in conjunction with Vice President of Human Resources and other members of HR department. Responsible for supervising and mentoring of one non-exempt administrative employee.• Negotiated welfare benefit plan for 2002 that saved company $175,000 over 2001 costs and $478,000 over renewal rates.• Brought COBRA and flexible spending administration in-house, saving company $19,000 in third-party administrator costs.• Identified need for computerized HRIS system. Researched systems and presented proposal to senior management. System implementation included adding employee history manually to system to allow for accurate data.• Assisted Payroll Department in utilizing ABRA system to bring payroll in-house. System was implemented in 7 weeks and had a 98% accuracy rate for the first payroll run.

Medical plan was self-funded and self-administered; worked with carriers and third-party administrators to obtain network access and discounts for medical claims. Utilized system to pay medical, dental, and prescription claims in-house. Worked with HR Manager to administer payment for medical charges for on-the-job injuries for Texas employees. Worked with ConAgra corporate office to administer 401(k) and stock option plans. Supervised two non-exempt employees.

• Implemented electronic system for insurance coverage verification and claims payment status.• Oversaw two-tier relocation program, including management of relocation services company.• Managed a non-qualified executive deferred compensation plan.
