Project:  Joined startup to prepare and develop a strategy and launch plan  for the Dot Green Generic Top Level Domain (gTLD).

Channel:  Registrars, Hosting Companies, Website Builders, Domain Sellers.

Key Achievements:  

  • Developed and delivered all policies under tight deadlines in time for a successful launch of the .green gTLD in March 2015 to the general public
  • Developed and implemented a unique and industry accepted pricing strategy
  • Contracted over 100 channel partner resellers (Similar domain name registries  have less than 50 contracted resellers)
  • Negotiated robust, targeted co-marketing partnership with the largest registrar in the industry, GoDaddy, with no marketing dollars involved in a crowded eCommerce space
  • Implemented SalesForce CRM for organization
  •  Helped launch a branded retail registrar that became the #2 reseller after #1 GoDaddy

Promoted during the course of my work on the development of new products and services for domain name registries.  Identified potential products and services to offer the new and developing channel that was close to Sedo's industry.  Developed business case, presented to  executive team and won approval to move forward with new products and services development. Led program management and developed those products and services from creation - go to market - business development and sales in an international and cross functional team.  Concurrently running sales and business development to win client contracts for the new offerings.  Budgetary planning responsibilities for line of business of +1 million revenue year one.  

Key Achievements: 

  • Successfully launched new line of Registry Services business for Sedo
  • Negotiated and secured over 100 contracts for the new services
  • Won industry leading clients such as Google, Rightside, DotAsia, Famous Four Media, ARI and Donuts
  • Led an international, cross-functional team to develop custom platform and execute a super premium live & online auction for new Chinese character domain names in Macau, China with TLD Registry.
  • Earned a respected reputation across the industry as an advocate for new gTLDs and the domain namespace

After leading the team that closed the highest value single domain sale in history for 13 million USD in 2010, I was promoted to focus on generating new business and win contracts within a strategic core set of clients across all company product lines.  In this position I uncovered new product opportunities that I would present and help develop later in 2012.

  • Developed future market vision and new product overview pitch for executive team
  • Attended first ICANN meeting in March 2012 and introduction to the global gTLD program
  • Led a team market and execute a super premium live and online auction for e.co

Hire, manage, mentor and develop a growing team from 5 existing to 10 inside and outside sales people. Reinvent the brokerage department from scratch including operational processes, reporting, CRM, marketing and networking.  Reviewed existing and refreshed overall strategy including new marketing methods to expand reach and awareness of services. Identify, develop and manage strategic clients.

Key Achievements:

  • Won coveted contract to have exclusive rights to sell a domain name that my team would later sell for 13 million USD.  Beat out long time, well-known industry players to win this contract.
  • Expanded client base with focus on building relations with the corporate channel and won clients such as Microsoft, Amazon, MLB, BMW, Overstock, and Alibaba
  • Expanded client base with focus on Corporate Registrars that represented our target clients.  CSC, Netnames, Melbourne IT, Ascio, and Mark Monitor

Hired to build a digital content group, sales team,  and monetization strategy channels for the group company's web properties at industry-leading eCommerce group and new media pioneer. Content group grew to include several properties including: poshcravings, babytv, epregnancy and integrated with ecommerce properties in the online parenting, baby and children's space. Led multi-functional team to steer website content plans and new site build initiatives aligning with monetization strategies.  Responsible for developing strategic relationships with new, high impact clients and developing sales team to support those clients. 

Key Achievements:

  • Hired and managed online advertising sales team of 3 people
  • Helped grow the web properties from creation and zero page views to over 100,000 combined monthly page views in first year.  
  • Grew online ad revenues from $0 to $100,000 in our record high month within first year
  • Led a team that won contracts with major brands and agencies in the parenting space such as Evenflo, Bugaboo, Palmer's Coco Butter, and Disney Vacations
  • Led the Sales and Business development team in a in an innovative company initiative combining video advertising/content with eCommerce and online content at the industry's largest trade show.

Joined the startup internet business as a contractor to run the local Minneapolis website.   Developed localized content as well as sold online advertising and newsletter sponsorships.  After growing the Minneapolis market more than any other  BabyZone regional market (total of 60 regional markets) in both advertising revenue and traffic, offered a full time position in Boston at the company's headquarters to build a team of local editors and an online advertising sales team.

Key Achievements:

  • Grew regional market in Minneapolis to be the largest of all BabyZone markets in 2002
  • Built and managed a team online advertising sales and ad operations team of 10 local office and remote employees and contractors
