Administrative Aspect.

  • Lead and Over-see the smooth running of a faculty of 7 departments.
  • Become focal point in meeting with internal and external stakeholders with regards to the faculty and BTEC courses running concurrently.
  • Devise contingency plans and alternative class arrangements in case of any absences or lateness due to official or unofficial circumstances.
  • Delegate duties pertaining to the smooth running of the faculty.
  • Constantly monitor, audit and assess staff performance in order to maintain even boost morale as well as productivity.
  • Produce, distribute, compile and organize relevant documents to effectively administer learner work, assessment as well as portfolio from faculty members.
  • Prepare an overall and detailed standard operational procedures (SOP) to effectively control the flow of the above-mentioned documents
  • Ensure the maximisation of Learner-Assessor interaction during the execution phase of assignments.
  • Ensure that staff are performing their administrative duties at a good standard according to the needs of the faculty and the school alike.
  • Perform lesson observations whenever possible to ensure a good teaching standard.
  • Appraise staff once a year in accordance to ministerial and school administration standards for the Brunei Government’s Annual Bonus Scheme.

                      Student and Staff Welfare Aspect.

                      • Devise Faculty rules and regulations with regards to administration and ministerial guidelines.
                      • Promote a positive teaching and learning atmosphere with mutual respect between staff members and learners.
                      • Set up and hold Faculty meetings and contact times whenever possible to relate any news, policy changes and administrative matters.
                      • Meet with parents whenever needed to discuss learner affairs with Deputy Dean and Student Welfare Officer.

                      Building and Maintenance Aspect.

                      • Ensure the safety of the faculty environment for staff and students alike
                      • Ensure that any damages and building requirements are conveyed to relevant authorities by the Deputy dean (Building and Maintenance)
                      • Ensure that regular building checks are performed if necessary.
                      • Ensure the relevant documentation is produced to apply for any maintenance and/or building works.
                      • Meet with teaching staff to get feedback on any issues when it comes to materials and equipment needed.
                      • Convey the relevant information discussed above to the focal person in the school administration.
                      • Send, sign for and collect requisitions to school storekeeper for any equipment needed for teaching and projects/assignments.

                      Logistics Aspect.

                      BTEC Programme Coordinator

                      • Ensure the flow of documentation within faculty premises is in line with J.S.S. and Edexcel requirements
                      • Ensure that learners’ work is at a standard in line with Edexcel requirements.
                      • Be the focal person with regards to J.S.S. and Edexcel policies and procedures as well as updates from any school administration.

                      Core Subject Assessor (Hospitality)

                      • Devise assignment briefs in accordance to BTEC standards.
                      • Ensure the assignments are checked by the internal verifier.
                      • Teach Hospitality to learners as a prerequisite to the assignments given.
                      • Ensure the assignment is performed at the student’s pace.
                      • Ensure that the necessary equipment/tools/documents required and supplied are used to the fullest capacity.
                      • Store, organise and record student work on their respective student protfolios as well as the course sub-site folder.
                      • Mark and update the students’ work on the tracking document and store in the course sub-site folder.
                      • Comment on student work if necessary through the assignment feedback sheet.
                      • Ensure the internal verifier has an update on the student activities to verify it’s standards and relevance.
                      • Revisit any assignment that does not meet up to the standards set by the internal verifier.

                      Business, Retail and Administration Internal Verifier.

                      • Check assignment briefs set by the B.R.A. assessors that they are up to Edexcel standards.
                      • Sign off on assignments that are deemed satisfactory to excellent standard wise.
                      • Check lesson feedback sheets when necessary.
                      • Sign off on closing documents when necessary.

                      Functional English and Communication Teacher.

                      • Teach functional English to BTEC Diploma students with regards to their assignment briefs to ensure a good level of English on the outcome of their assignments.
                      • Ensure that the students consistently use the English language in their lessons and conversations during their lessons.
                      • Perform oral exercises to ensure that they are confident enough in the usage of the English language to speak to the general public.
