Branding Specialist

My job was to generate press for my company through all channels of the gaming industry. This included cold calling editors, developing relationships with the media and pitching story ideas to poker pubs. I was also responsible for all marketing materials including: sales & media kits, spec. sheets, weekly content updates to the website and all trade show themes & collateral.Achievements: • Developed a database of national media contacts, casino owners and poker bloggers through my   cold-calling efforts.• Generated tons of free press during my tenure.• Under my leadership, our CEO was listed as one of the Top 25 People to Watch in the gaming industry   and our electronic poker table won First Place in Casino Journal’s Most Innovative Gaming   Technology Product for 2005.• Created a group of brand-loyal bloggers that consistently promoted our products on their blogs. And to   thank them, I threw them a party in Las Vegas, which garnered $75,000 worth of free press.

Recommendations from former bosses and colleagues:

Written by Jon Lester, Director of Product Management, PokerTek, managed Becca indirectly at PokerTek:

“Becca was a creative force at PokerTek. I really admired her drive and personal commitment in establishing the company's brand, and she was never afraid to ask the tough questions. Some of her accomplishments include: Creating the brand standards, several successful B2C and B2B campaigns, cultivating loyal fans out of some of the most outspoken skeptics of our products, and scoring tons of free press coverage.”

Written by Anna LeFoy Bruton, Marketing Guru, PokerTek, worked directly with Becca at PokerTek:

“I had the pleasure of working with Becca on a creative marketing team. She joined the PokerTek team early and worked diligently on creating a brand for a technology never before seen in the gaming industry. It was challenging, but Becca succeeded by understanding the needs and trends of the industry and communicating with players and operators through savvy headlines and eye-catching collateral. She is also excellent at generating the "big ideas".

Written by John Hartness, Freelance Poker Blogger, Pokerstage, worked directly with Becca at PokerTek:

“Becca did a great job getting PokerTek tons of free press from the poker blogging community by reaching out to groups of writers and creating opportunities for us to review the product before it was widely available. She created high-energy promotional events that broadened the exposure of the product among a highly targeted clientele.”

Written by John Howard, Art Director, PokerTek, worked directly with Becca at PokerTek:

“Becca has the brilliant ability to see the big picture and recognize what needs to be done to get there. Her experience and dedication to good work was only exemplified by her fun personality which made her such a blast to work with.”

Senior Writer

HMH Advertising & Marketing

Worked solo and with a team of art directors to creatively solve marketing challenges. These executions included: banner ads, e-mail marketing, print ads, brochures, websites, direct mail, radio and corporate videos. Along with maintaining my creative duties, I was asked to jump in and out of the role of Creative Director and Project Manager. Additionally, I was responsible for presenting and selling all creative and strategic solutions to our clients.Achievements: • Helped project manage the biggest product launch for HMH/Detroit Diesel. This included over 50  promotional items that had to be concepted, executed and produced under a tight deadline.• Created award-winning campaigns for B2B and B2C companies that drove traffic to websites, moved   product off shelves and made phones ring.• Developed new business materials, which included strategies, spec work and corporate bios. • Wrote, produced and managed the creation of a corporate video.

Recommendations from former bosses and colleagues:

Written by Mark Conachan, Creative Director, HMH in Charlotte, managed Becca at HMH:

“Now, many folks talk about so and so being an 'outside the box' thinker, and if that tired phrase means that someone every leap year brings a spark of originality, a unique perspective, fresh thinking or alternative opinion, well, I don't think Becca has even seen the interior of this box. I doubt she even knows the box exists. If the box is a native of Cleveland (sorry Cleveland), Becca must come from the Tsinghai province of China. Which is pretty damn far from the Buckeye state. So if you're a marketer, Becca can pull you out of that rut that has formed in the middle of the road leading to Yawnstown, hang a Batman turn and lay rubber all the way to Coolville (which, to be fair, is also in Ohio). Oh, she's also a great writer, voraciously curious and a can manage the bejesus out of a project. You should get to know her. I'm glad I do.”

Written by Shawn Kelley, Creative Director, HMH in Charlotte, managed Becca at HMH:

“Becca was an incredible creative partner to have. A researcher at heart, she dove deep into projects pulling out gems of information and insight that made our work stronger. She always had a wonderful energy about her that was quite contagious within the office and with clients. Writer, strategist, producer -- she did it all. And did it all well.”

Written by Brett McCoy, Marketing Manager, HMH in Charlotte, managed Becca indirectly at HMH:

“Being the new business guy, you learn to quickly sniff out the people that make your job easier. And from day one, Becca was my Go-To-Girl. I could put her in a room with prospective clients and she would not only befriend them, she would earn their trust and their business. We won a lot of new business when I was at HMH and a lot of it was because of Becca's help. With Becca, selling the intangible became easy.”
