Bernard Salera - Guiding Asian American Cultural Exchange Association

Bernard Salera is a longtime Pennsylvania business presence who currently guides the Asian American Cultural Exchange Association (AACEA) as president. The AACEA serves as an inbound exchange program that places Chinese students with host families and in private schools. Bernard Salera has been affiliated with the organization since 2006.

The product of a Catholic education, Bernard Salera developed a Platonic philosophy during his academic studies and wrote the paper “Idealism is Realism.” He subsequently was awarded a doctoral fellowship at Notre Dame University in political philosophy but withdrew from the program in order to "roll up his sleeves" and make his ideas come alive outside of academia. He ultimately earned a graduate degree in information science and technology.

Early in his career, Mr. Salera became involved in public service projects, and collaborated with entities such as the office of the Consul General of Italy and the Philadelphia Board of Education in facilitating a seminar titled “Why the World Needs Dante Today.” Starting in 1989, he led the Classical Arts Cable Network, which offered diverse public-access music and visual-arts programming. One event Mr. Salera’s network broadcast was a celebration of the tercentenary of the town of Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The program included opera, ballet, and instrumental pieces.

Bernard Salera holds membership in such organizations as the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, the Bensalem Business Association, and Citizen Diplomacy International, formerly the International Visitor Council of Philadelphia.
